The Spurs have talked to teams in the lottery, including the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings, who hold the fifth and seventh picks, respectively.

Obviously Parker's a good player, but he's 8/9 years older than the core of the team (Evans/Cousins)
If a deal could be worked out where Sacramento gets someone that can grow with our young guys from another team and send Parker to that 3rd team, it would be a smarter move in my opinion.

The wiretap lists you guys and us and we have a 30 page thread about it on our forum. We're insane.
The overwhelming majority of us are against it, as we are far away from being a playoff threat. Colangelol will be public enemy #1 if he makes this trade. Don't think it makes sense for you guys either.

Well, if it's Parker for the #7 and Beno (which is about half of Parker's salary), then I'm all for it. While Parker is 29, we don't have anyone on our team with his experience or leadership. We don't need to get younger in the draft.
There are some interesting pg projects that should be available in the second round, that we could get, and he could learn under Parker.
If we get 2-3 good years out of Parker, then it's a good deal.
A lineup of:
Parker
Thornton
Evans
Cousins
Dalembert
with a bench of Thompson/Greene/Casspi/Jackson/Garcia/Jeter/Whiteside/2 2nd round draft picks
Could contend for the playoffs next year (if there is a next year).

Spurs Trying To Include Jefferson In Parker Trade Talks
Jun 22, 2011 10:47 AM EDT
As the Spurs explore trade possibilities involving Tony Parker, the team is believed to be hoping to unload the contract of Richard Jefferson in the process.
Jefferson was re-signed by the Spurs last offseason.
The Raptors and Kings are believed to be possible landing spots for Parker.

IMO, Richard can recover your game in Sac and bring, with Parker, some court experience for kids.
If left some Maloof's money, I would pull the trigger and dispatched #7, Beno and Greene-Casspi.
Toughts?

I think this deal has pretty much been shot down at this point.

If the Spurs are going to dump Jefferson, I would then view including #7 as a significant overpayment. Jefferson's value is clearly and unchangingly regressing.

Rephrase that. Cap space, shooting, and defense over Parker and Jefferson.
