Seems like a great deal for you guys, but don't you have a good number of big guys already? None the less, great value.

Bad trade if the future first is included imo. If its a stright up Kings win. Cavs win if they get the pick

PG: J. Fredette, I. Thomas
SG: T. Evans, M. Thornton
SF: J. Salmons, F. Garcia, D. Greene, T. Honeycutt
PF: J. Hickson, J. Thompson
C : D. Cousins, H. Whiteside

:-?

AJIK#JR KADJ FA Does this mean all of our dreams of Nene, Gasol, Jordan, West, Dally have all been squashed?!! What position would we ever spend money on? We have to much "B/C" level depth.

The Cavs' new first round pick is lottery protected next year, then goes down to top-10 protected in 2013 and declines from there...

yall were never going to get Nene, Gasol, Jordan, West those are pipe dreams. Except maybe west plus yall have good players specially starting lineup and your crazy if you think jimmer will start over thornton. Maybe not "A" level players but defiantly "A" level potential

Any way this is a bad deal there is some real talent in next years draft so much that next years 16th pick could have gone 2nd this year JT is better then hickson anyways.
BAD DEAL

If it was Omri for hickson and 2013 draft pick then its a great deal but lotto protected or not next year draft picks are to valuable.

I agree with this. After watching how useless Carl Landry became with a four man big man rotation, to me this means Dalembert is not coming back.

Maybe I am wrong...
Marc Stein wrote:Sources say Sacramento, meanwhile, thinks it can make room for Hickson by shifting prized second-year forward DeMarcus Cousins to center on occasion. The Kings also still have Jason Thompson as another trade asset with Cousins and Hickson ahead of him.

That makes it sound like we plan on getting a center (hopefully Dalembert). If thats true...sucks to be Jason Thompson.

It is almost like Petrie is collecting assets a la Danny Ainge and then plans to make a huge splash.

I hope that there isn't a pick included for the STACKED class of 2012. There are a ton of players in that class than can help WAY more than Hickson.

Any way this is a bad deal there is some real talent in next years draft so much that next years 16th pick could have gone 2nd this year JT is better then hickson anyways.
BAD DEAL

I agree. A late pick in next year drafts = a lottery pick in this years possibly

From Sam Amick:
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/w ... index.html

Sacramento and Cleveland have finalized a deal to send small forward Omri Casspi to the Cavaliers for forward J.J. Hickson.

According to a source with knowledge of the deal, the Cavaliers will also receive a first-round pick that is lottery-protected next year and top-10 protected in 2013 with the protections continuing to decline from there.

...The move is even more necessary in light of the likely departure of center Samuel Dalembert, as sources close to him say he was disappointed when extension talks went nowhere with the Kings and he is now far more interested signing with a contender in free agency.

Correction of protection on future 1st round pick:

@sam_amick
Correction on conditions of pick. I misread a text, but here it is: lottery protected in '12, top 13 in '13, top 12 in '14, top 10 '15-'17.

If this is true, I'm actually starting to like the pick more, seeing as the King's will most likely still be in the lottery next year, and MAYBE the year after. Hopefully, we don't need high draft picks after 2014.

Hickson is a much better player than Casspi.

Considering the pick is so well protected you guys won the trade...

Beware that Hickson's kind of a knucklehead who shoots too much, has mental lapses, and pisses off coaches. He's also kind of a loud mouth with maturity issues (Cavs fans complain he thinks he's better than he is).

On the plus side, he's really good sometimes and could thrive in an off-the-bench role where he doesn't have to create his own shot that much.

Overall, seems like a fair deal given Hickson's upside, but also might mess with whatever team chemistry the Kings were hoping to have this year.
