AMNESTY & WAIVERS

On NBA Gmetime t.v. it was announced that both Chauncey Billips & Gilbert Arenas were let go via amnesty and let go via waivers Vince Carter & Richard Hamilton
Any of you all feel we should go after any of these four ?
I like Chauncey & like Arena's game though I think Arenas is a nut case and should not be anywheres near the team . So I would have to rule him out .

Billups would be a perfect back up, but I don't think he would be willing and I don't think the Kings would put either Thorton or Evans on the bench for him.

..unless you shift Evans at the 3 and start Billups & Thornton at 1 & 2? Who know...

I wouldnt bench either as well he would be a back up at best . I would be inclined to get him so we can package him in a trade later maybe to a contender if we are not for a pick ? We have to use more cap anyways .
I dont see us going to hard after anyone else now . Possibly 1 other role player .

I'd bench Thornton for him.

Billups? no way, too old, and due to his age could never be a part of any long term plan.

We don't need him to be part of a long term plan, but we could really use his veteran leadership--like, big time. It'd be great to have someone come in and show these young guys how to be pros. Especially someone they'd actually look up to, like Chauncey.
Not to mention he's a perfect fit basketball-wise.

The problem with Billups is he's pretty much already made it well known he wants to play, and he'll retire if a team like the Kings picks him up. If the Kings come out of the gate looking like true contenders then add him, but Jimmer needs all those Beno minutes, the Kings have to see what he is and where he fits.

Jimmer's not getting all of those Beno minutes.
But yeah, the problem is he doesn't want to play here. Otherwise though, I'd be all for him and I'd start him over Marcus.

Strike Billups off the wish-list
“I just don’t deserve the treatment that I’ve continually gotten,” Billups said. “Historically, these things never happen to the supposed great players and good guys. They continually happen to me, and it gets old. Listen, I feel I’ve been blessed in the game, and I’ve been given back, but these things start to wear on you. But there’s not another guy in history who keeps dealing with this, getting thrown into these things to make the money right. I really believe it’s because people take my kindness and professionalism for weakness. They think I’ll be OK with this. I won’t be OK with this. I’ve saved my money. I may just retire if I don’t get my freedom here.
“I want my freedom. My goal is to control my own destiny. And as you’ve seen in my career, I’ve never been in a position to do that. I know some teams out there are saying, ‘Oh, Chauncey will be great in mentoring’ and I’m tired of that. I’ve got a few good years left to play, and I’m not trying to come in and sit on the bench, or be a mentor. I’m not going to be that guy. I want to go somewhere and win. I want to choose.”

Yea no way we go after any of these four guys, especially with our crowded backcourt. None really fit what we're trying to do. This is obviously Tyreke/DeMarcus' team.
I think going more the OKC route of letting the young guys develop together and gradually building around them as they become stars in the league will work the best with the talent we have.

Thanks man, it's actually my friends company. $22 with free shipping sound like a pretty good deal

. Not to make this thread about the shirts, but once the company gets going my friend will be asking for fan input on future designs. I'm pushing for a Jimmer one for sure.

It will take a miracle for this team to add a quality amnesty player. Most are overpaid underachievers that think they deserve to play for a ring. Plus we are out of money to sign players. We have a million bucks left.
