POR@SAC

Post#1 » by kanka67 » Fri Dec 16, 2011 9:43 am

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to attend the POR@SAC game on April 15.

My ticket budget is around $50-75 per pax (wifey is with me). Which type of tix would you recommend? And where should I buy those? Ticketmaster, Stubhub? Any place else? I'm from Germany, so I'm not sure whether I can order everywhere.

We'll be in SF before. Please don't be upset that I'm asking, but should we drive to SAC earlier than the game to see some nice places? I haven't checked any travel recommendations for SAC, so any insiders are appreciated.

Cheers

I get about 5 tickets in the lower bowl per year but I have to say sitting at the very top of the arena is more fun. Its 17.75 for the top seats which is great but I have good eyes so I don't mind sitting up there. I buy it off ticketmaster.

Sacramento isn't that interesting, especially the area around the arena. There are only museums in Sacramento... just stick around the SF area imo.

Don't sit at the top of the arena. Go to Craigslist and find some lower level seats. There should be plenty available in your price range. You can probably buy them through the teams website right now. As far as places to go before the game. You can probably kill some time downtown by the capital and check out a bar or 2. Good luck and safe travels!

SF is way more exciting than Sac. I would stay there as long as I could, then go to the game.

Thanks for the answers.
I guess if we decide to go to Sactown, it will only be for the game. What's the best/cheapest way to get there from SF w/out a car?

Is Craigslist suitable for non-US people? I mean, assume I have agreed to buy tix from someone, how do I get them? Isn't Stubhub the better option? And do you suggest I get tickets early (now) or wait as close to the game as possible? Do prices go down?

Public transportation isn't the greatest in Sacramento, unfortunately. Probably a bus?

If you coming from out of the US, I would recommend buying the ticket from kings.com, IMO. Might as well be safe. Good luck.

Sorry to diverge, but everyone...look at the responses of staying in SF over Sacramento...and you wonder why free agents don't want to live in Sacramento?

And public transportation is possible, but it is very expensive. A train ticket from SF to Sacramento will likely range around $30 per ticket for one way. So for you and your wife, it will likely cost around $120 just for train tickets, so driving is much better.

I would drive down to Sacramento region for dinner then head to the game (you don't want to get stuck in traffic). There are some good microbrews in Davis (Sudwerks, about 20 minutes away from the arena and is on the way from SF to the arena) or Sacramento (Pyramid, located in downtown Sacramento), that could be good options for a drink and dinner.

I don't think most of the Kings players/staff live directly in Sacramento anyways.

Yeah I mean San Francisco is definitely the better place to tour around, but if you want to get into Sac early, it's not like it's total crap. Old Sac is a neat enough place to be for a few hours and you can find places to eat there. If you reserve ahead of time, you can eat somewhere on the river.

As for transportation, I guess Amtrak would be the best bet, though it is a little pricey.

if you were to take a bus/train into Sacramento it will take you downtown. You will have to cab it to the Arena fron there, and cabs in Sacramento aren't cheap.

The train station is on 5th and I. Pyramid is on 11th and K.

I would actually suggest you go to a Warrior game. The BART station and Amtrak run on the other side of the stadium.

If you rent a car, which could be a lot cheaper on you, then go for it.
