SACRAMENTO, CALIF., Dec. 19, 2011 -- This morning, in one of the most heartbreaking moments of my professional or personal life, Chuck Hayes was notified that he failed his physical exam with the Sacramento Kings. Subsequent to that, the contract signed on December 9th has been voided. At Chuck’s request, we will have no further comment at this time.

Get well Chuck!

This is very disappointing. Chuck would likely provided immense help in the leadership department and defense.

From what I heard, Sammy isn't in the best shape now. So, I don't know what to think about that because he is usually not in shape regardless. Maybe going hard for AK47 and make him our starting PF??

Damn it.

Thought I read somewhere that he was joining the Nets?

Those reports were proven to be false by his agent.

Wow, this is such terrible news! I feel bad for Hayes. Hopefully this isn't the end of his career, or is it? ... This sucks for us.

Man, that really sucks for him. Couldn't have happened to a better guy by all accounts.

But yeah, we really need to look harder to re-sign Sam.

That's just a shot to the gut for everyone involved.

Yeah it sucks and Daly has to be considered now, but maintain a stance on money your willing to spend.

We kind of HAVE to resign Dally now. The loss of Chuck does more than hurt us team wise. We're now back under the minimum salary floor.

A decent offseason could turn into a bust really quick here.

Bad for both sides, we needed his D and rebounding and he finally got his big contract that he worked so hard for.

Thinking outside the box here. I can understand the Kings being concerned with eating $21.3 million if something were to happen and it can't be insured. IF Chuck is physically able to play and its just an issue of insuring a contract why don't the Kings offer him $5.325 million on a 1 year contract (1/4 of the original contract) and explain to him that they'd be happy to renew him for $5.325 after each of the next 3 years if his health allows. This would show how much we value the guy and minimize financial risk. Much easier to eat $5.325 million if God forbid something was to happen.

Thoughts?
