So... who still wants to trade Demarcus Cousins?

Post#1 » by SacTownKings4Life » Wed Feb 8, 2012 1:25 am

There was a lot of talk during the whole Westphal scenario about trading Cousins for being a bad apple/trouble maker. Since the firing, I hear he's somewhere in the land of 16/12 per game. I was wondering how many people still feel the same way after giving the guy a couple more weeks under a competent coach?

I think most of us King's fans wanted Cuz to stay the whole time.

To be honest, I don't remember one Kings fan who has ever said to trade Cousins.

Don't remember a whole lot of Kings fans demanding that myself. I know other fans spouted off about him needing to be dealt, and it usually followed with some crappy trade idea of how their team could get him.

I can deal with his attitude and would rather build around him... Reke on the other, im willing to pack his stuff to be dealt for the right price!

This. Agreed completely.

I would move Tyreke (+ additional value) to find better pieces to fill in around DeMarcus.

The two options I like the most would be moving Tyreke for Rondo or Bogut (clearly a 3rd team might be necessary).

PG: R. Rondo/I. Thomas
SG: M. Thornton/J. Fredette
SF: _________/________
PF: _________/C. Hayes
C : D. Cousins/_________

Or

PG: _____/I. Thomas
SG: M. Thornton/J. Fredette
SF: ________/_________
PF: D. Cousins/J. Thompson
C : A. Bogut/C. Hayes

Cousins needs to get stronger. The Cousins and Pek matchup was hilarious. Dude was getting great position under the basket against Cousins and couldn't do nothing about it.

I remember Cousins said that he never lifted weights in his entire life. :o If he manages to do that and improves his understanding of the game (STOP REACHING), dude will be a perennial all star and an unstoppable force.

There's starting to be more interest for Wolves fans to trade for Evans.
What would it take to get him?
Would something like Ridnour, Randolph, Memphis and Utah's protected pick for Evans be enough?
Or do you still think he has semi elite value?

It's not that we think he has semi-elite value, but that's a highly inadequate package. Ridnour is a career role player, Randolph is a bust, and those picks will be mediocre. His performance is down a bit from his rookie of the year season, but he still shows flashes of being unstoppable and being a triple double threat. On a rookie contract, you don't throw away that kind of promise for a 500 team's trash. I don't think there's any question that if we're dealing with the Wolves directly for Evans, we want Rubio. You guys obviously don't do that so that about ends the conversation. You'd need to involve a third team that gets us proven young talent or some marginal all-star at least. I'd trade him for Rondo without blinking for example.

Randolph has been with 3 teams and hasn't showed anything. Ridnour is old and the picks are projected late in the first round.

I think not.

I mean, I'm open to trade Evans if it can improve the team but the package above is insulting.

Not even.

While we don't think Tyreke has "semi elite value," he does have value (and a decent amount too).

Any realistic package for Tyreke involves either Rubio or Love.

However, if you want to be annoying and not offer us any real value (aka Rubio or Love), I'd consider

T. Evans, J. Salmons, F. Garcia for L. Ridnour, D. Williams, J. Barea, A. Randolph, and Utah's 1st

(A DEN/NYK type deal...and we both know which team won that one)

I didn't think that package was good enough, I was more gauging how much the fans value him still.
But come on, Rubio has elite trade value. Check the trade board rankings. D. Williams and Ridnour for a backup F and Evans is in line for Evans value, trade talks don't start and end with Rubio or Love. The Wolves have some nice pieces for Sacto.

Rubio's value will fall back down to earth soon. Go look at how the trade board valued Tyreke his rookie year.

Evans and Rubio would be a terrible back court. Rubio needs more of a Jimmer like player, IMO.

Actually, if we're talking a trade with the Wolves for Evans, since Rubio and Love seem to be untouchable, I'd start a conversation for Beasley, Pek/Williams, and the picks. It's really mindboggling how people on this message board think they can add value to their team without subtracting. The above post is like me going to the Knicks board and offering Salmons and Donte Greene for Amare, or going to the Bucks board and offering the same package for Brandon Jennings. Can we stop playing the game of "let me find players on my team and assets we could do without and offer them for other teams 1st or 2nd best player"? I mean do you really think you can pull a fast one on fans of a team who watches them more than you, and obviously will see more value in a player than you do? That's a disease that seems to have infected this board. In short, I'll replace my previous characterization of "highly inadequate" with "utterly insulting."

It might. But I think a good veteran PG, the #2 pick this year (who's a PF playing behind Love), and maybe Utah's pick for Evans and a bench SF would be pretty good value.

I'm just saying there's more on the Wolves for a rebuilding team like Sacto than our 2 best players.

The Wolves have a unique team. All our PFs shoot the 3. Rubio/Evans would be the best defensive duo in the NBA at G. IMO Evans athleticism and Slashing would work well with Rubio's passing and our bigs outside shooting. But the Wolves perimeter D would be ridiculous.

Rubio and Love are untouchable in any trades right now, so any trade for Evans would have to start with Derrick Williams and go from there.

If im the wolves i wouldn't want evans close to my team... Rubio and evans atthe bckcourt will be a disaster... I would add an athletic guard that can shoot and keep williams cause it gives rubio alot of choices and good spacing... Iv'e been following them this year as well... I envy them for having a great coach and having a system...
