By the way. The LA Times story is laughable. Plenty out of context. The city nor the NBA will backtrack at this point. Moving on.

Remember all the biased articles in Seattle and O.C.?? Local media loves fanning flames to sell papers/ad time. Part of the biz

It's laughable to think this deal would "collapse" over 3.6 million. The sky is not falling, expect more of this type of stuff. All good.

All that being said, if for some reason the deal were to collapse, I would personally drive down and pee on the arena. #HereIPee

This development project still has thousands of decisions left to be made. Obviously there will be some back and forth. However the way Sac Bee and LA times jumped all over this non story shows their willingness to sabotage ESC plans. Ignore the ignorant.

The NBA today came to the rescue of Sacramento's arena deal, agreeing to advance about $200,000 in pre-development costs after the Kings' owners balked at paying the money.

This money represents the first installment of the Kings' share of pre-development costs totalling $3.26 million.

NBA Commissioner David Stern, in a statement to The Bee, said those pre-development expenses must be paid quickly. "Those discussions have stalled, but I have advised Mayor Johnson that the NBA will advance pre-development expenses on behalf of the Kings pending our report to the NBA Board of Governors at its meeting on April 12-13."

A Maloof family spokesman in Los Angeles told the Bee today the team does not feel that it should share in predevelopment costs because the team is only a tenant in the building, which would be owned by the city.

"The team should not be responsible for the predevelopment expenses," team spokesman Eric Rose said. "That has been the position of the Kings from the start."

Yet the Kings owners agreed in principle to pay $73.25 million "toward development and construction of the (arena)," according to a term sheet negotiated three weeks ago by the city, the team, the NBA and other private partners. That document states, "such amount shall include pre-development expenses paid by the Kings ..."

I can't imagine the NBA being happy with the Maloofs right now. If they can't fork over 3 million and change, then well...

Anyway, I can't believe I'm saying this, but David Stern is my hero.

Don't read too much into it. He's making up for past offenses...

I can kind of see George Maloofs point here. Why would they have to pay for that when it's not their building? But if they agreed to it, wtf! The NBA basically coming out and siding with the city is not a good sign for 'ol George and whatever plan he's still trying to put together though. Don't know how the commish feels about Joe and Gavin but I think he's pretty fed up with George.

We might as well trade our lotto pick...Stern will probably give us the worst pick possible.

Anyways, Stern/NBA must be PISSED at the Maloofs. Was this an amount that they agreed to earlier? I still feel the Maloofs will do everything they can to move to LA...I mean...that has been their intentions since before they even became majority stakeholders.

PLEASE STERN. FORCE THE MALOOFS TO SELL!!!

Personally, I am not worried about this. I am MUCH more worried about the parking situation. We still need to actually get a proposal that allows us to build the arena...

I think that Joe (and Gavin) needs to take his "little" brother George out back of the woodshed and give him a good old fashioned brother beat down and tell him to start shutting his f&/@ing mouth!

Too bad his casino went under due to poor choice of location and he wasn't old enough to party when they were contending and everybody's darlings. If hewants to live his LA/Vegas life, go ahead and do it but leave the team out of it.

The Maloofs are broke is my assumption. Moving the money owed into the next loan is a bad deal for Sacramento. We need to get that 70 million I believe upfront and then we can work on the rest. There are going to be cost overruns and I am sure we will eat that as taxpayers. These guys are just not good businessmen. We need to get some deep pockets here who know how to run a business and not clowns who blew Daddy's money.
