Draft Predictions

The draft is 2 weeks from this Thursday and the Kings have the #5 and #36 pick. For fun, let's see how well we predict our newcomers. Let's continue to predict up until draft day to see how things may change after work outs, rumors, etc.

Here's mine:

#5 Harrison Barnes 6'8 SF North Carolina
Great size for a SF, excellent combine athleticism results, known as a shooter, great interview, played with talented teammates at UNC.

#36 Kyle O'Quinn 6'10 PF/C Norfolk State
Going with a SF at #5 I believe the Kings need a big in 2nd round. O'Quinn came up huge in upset win over Missouri in the NCAA tournament, plus he blocks shots (2.7 as Sr. and 3.4 as Jr.) and rebounds (10.3 as Sr. and 11.1 as Jr.). Not sure why his numbers were better as a junior. He's about 60% FG and 70% FT.

1st round: PF Thomas

I feel that Harrison will be gone -- unless the Cavs were just trollin', So in that case, I think either MKG or Thomas will drop. I doubt MKG drops to 5 so I'd say Thomas, But who knows, Kings may take Henson or Drummond if they like them enough. This draft is tough to predict, lots of great talent!

2nd round: C Festus Ezeli

I really don't know who we'll take in the 2nd round, I just picked Ezeli because his Uncle is a Pediatrics where I live -- Yuba City. Ezeli attend Yuba Community College, too - so I followed/rooted for him at Vandy.

I like your choice of Thomas Robinson if he falls to 5 and Barnes doesn't. I'd be very happy with either one.

I also like your choice of Festus Ezeli. I considered him as well because of his size, local ties, inexperience in a good way meaning he hasn't been playing basketball that long and has room to improve, and he played in the SEC against good competition. I didn't choose him though because most mocks have him going before we draft at #36.

I'd be happy with Barnes, Robinson or worst case Henson.

1st Round

Andre Drummond, but I wouldn't mind Barnes, the closer and closer to the draft the more I like Barnes, but I just love Drummond.

2nd Round

Honestly haven't really looked at the second round to hard yet, but maybe Draymond Green.

With the 5th pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, the Sacramento Kings select....... Bradley Beal

I think they are dealing as well.

Outlaw and 5 for Wright, 7 and 29 or 34 (depends on if GSW wants to pay the guaranteed 1st rd money). GSW does it to get a higher pick to get a vet SF or selects Barnes at 5 or Drummond if he slips and they want size.

Kings select:
Meyers Leonard
Drew Gordon
Darius Miller

I'm cool with any of Barnes, Drummond, or Henson. I really, really want to see Green make his way to Sac at 36, I think he'll provide some leadership to this team and be a mutipositional defender. Just an overall great glue guy type.

This is hard to do with the workouts not even really on track yet.

Pick #5: Harrison Barnes
Pick #36: Draymond Green

Barnes or MKG with the #5 and not sure about the second round.
I think Petrie will go for a flat out scorer in the 2nd round because that seems to be what he likes, but at the end of the day it will also depend on who slips, because someone will.

I hear ya. That's why this is our initial predictions. They can continue to change over the next 2 weeks. Keep the thread going as your thoughts change.

I like the Draymond Green idea as well if he's there at 36.

I firmly believe Drummond is our choice is M.K.G. & BARNES are gone already .
I agree with sackingzzz about D.Green if he is there in the 2nd round when we pick he is our guy .

If any reason all 3 between M.K.G. , BARNES & DRUMMOND are all gone I am willing to bet we trade the pick .

Finally nobody should be suprised if Tyreke gets traded between a week before the draft - before the season . Boston , Charlotte ( possibly for the # 2 pick landing us both the #2 & # 5 picks ) If so I think we go BARNES OR M.K.G. at the #2 with Drummond at the # 5 pick ) also Portland , 76ers & the Magic are possibilities . If we trade the # 5 pick outright I suspect it goes to either Boston , 76ers or the Magic in blockbuster type deals.

Detroit for:
#9
Brandon Knight

Kings Draft Day:
#9- Henson
#36- Will Barton (its a stretch he is still around I know)
Brandon Knight

The draft is just a few days away. If we keep both picks...

#5 Michael Kidd-Gilchrist - I picked Barnes initially but I'm thinking Barnes goes before we pick and MKG drops to us.
#36 Kyle O'Quinn - I picked him originally and still like him here. He had a workout today and seems like a solid NBA rotational big with a good attitude.

1st Round

Still would like Drummond, but seems like it'll be MKG which I guess I'm fine with.

2nd Round

Jared Cunningham
