Not a Kings fan but I enjoyed watching Cousins throughout college[call me ] and I still love his personality and game like when he called out Griffin for flopping. What do you guys think he'll do this season? I see the only way to go is up for him and I'd be shocked if he doesn't finish as a consensus top 5 center by the end of the season.

Don't know, ask when we know what this team looks like. I think he'll be much improved and was right along with many expectations before last year.

Boogie is already a top 5 center IMO. In fact the only center I would take over him is Howard. I'd even take Boogie over Bynum. Bynum had the better year but Boogie has more potential, better all around skills than Bynum.

The only thing stopping me from agreeing with you is his poor shot selection/FG%. But once he does improve on that I'd have no problem taking him over any other center besides Bynum and Howard. Oh and his problem with fouling.

20/12 if Smart sticks with run and gun which doesn't suit Demarcus at all.

24/12 if Smart is capable of building a half court offense that actually feeds DMC when he has good position.

What will always keep him from being a consensus top center is that he's not a defensive anchor. That's not to say he won't be a top center, but he's going to have really kick ass offensively, which fortunately, he has the potential to do.

It's hard to know what to expect. He seems to be working hard. I think so much for him simply comes down to conditioning and maturity--in a very broad sense. A lot of his poor finishes are going up at times when he shouldn't and a lot of the time he just doesn't have his legs under him. It often comes down to a lack of focus, and that goes for his fouls too.

The main specific things I'm looking for are: 1) Continue improved conditioning, 2) More patience and skill used in finishing, and 3) Cutting down on the stupid fouls.

I wonder what Demarcus' FG% would be if you took out the missed putbacks. I'm guessing like...87%.

I know right. People who dont watch the games and just look at stat sheets think this guy Boogie Cousins shoots like crazy and cant hit a bucket.

I think I saw it calculated somewhere, If he shot the league average for centers near the rim it'd bounce to 47-48% iirc.

Better shot selection and improved FG%. He'll put up good numbers regardless, it's his efficiency that needs to get better. If he can get his FG % up around 50% he could average 25 points per game.

I do not care if this PPG or RPG go up this year. I want to see the FG% go up. I think he will probably have something like 18 and 10. I think this rebounding goes down with Robinson on board

i have always thought that poor pg play and coaches half court sets are what is holding down his percentages. If some of the players would attempt better defense he also would not be in as much foul trouble

Dudes only 21 still, he will put up some big numbers for a long time. Hopefully for the Kings sake they can hold onto him. I see him putting up 21/12 this year.

Efficiency and continued growth is what I'm praying for

The other stats will always be there.

To be fair, he is already a top 5 center to anyone who has actually been paying attention this past season.

He average 18/11 this year and I see no reason why he cannot be a 20/12 type center next season. And that is being conservative. I would not be surprised in the slightest if he is a 25/13 center next season but when I consider that he is surrounded by players who like to have their own shots, I will conservatively say he will be a 20/12 player and an all-star next season.

He will never be a defensive monster but offensively he is a beast and he is a relentless rebounder.

He could very well average more, but the fact of it is he will spend time off the court with fouls, and will have to contend for shots with everyone else on the court. Thornton and Evans will need their looks. Thomas and Fredette will improve and T-Rob will get some plays on the post too. His numbers could potentially even stay the same. Depends on if others improve or Boogie carries more and more of the offensive load.

We clearly had a problem with shot distribution or any sort of offensive hierarchy last season and with Smart as our coach, I am afraid that will continue into next season unless we somehow sort this messy roster before the season stars.

We have too many players whose main characteristic or strongest part of the game is to score. Blind Freddy can see that in terms of option on offence it should be:

1. Cousins
2. Evans
3. Thornton

The rest should pick their spots and play off scraps. But then you add Thomas who like to get his shots, Salmons who is a scorer and no longer a good one, and Outlaw who just did not meet a shot he didn't like. Then there is Jimmer whose primary calling card is shooting.

We only really had 2 real role players last season and towards the end of the season 3 and those guys are JT, Hayes and Williams.

It is no coincidence that JT was the best performing PF next to Cousins because he does not need the ball in his hands to be effective. Chuck knows his role (play D) and only tries to score where other options are limited. Williams was more willing to get others involved than he was looking for his shot.

Now you add Robinson to the mix, who will need his shots and the idea of adding Anderson, another guys whose best attribute is to score. There is only one ball to go around and not enough shots for everyone.

If we make the right moves during the off-season we could well have more structure to our offence but I am not holding my breath considering that we are interested in Anderson and yet more scoring.
