Salmons, Garcia, Hayes = 42.6% of our budget.

or about 36% at the league minimum of 51 mil....

:(

Why haven't we made any moves yet? Lowry got traded to Toronto for basically nothing. No trades?

Hoping Chuck can be traded for an expiring or late first round or second round pick.

Be hard to move Garcia or Salmons.

Wonder if Toronto would be interested in Chuck, Salmons, or Garcia and a second round for Calderon?

I'd rather spend on a SF.

Cisco is expiring. He'll be totally easy to move. The issue is whether we really want to move him.

Yep, that has to hurt eh Mitch? Trust me, Jerry Reynolds is probably fuming right now. So am I to be honest.

This is why you don't give away 1st round picks and stick the prize you got on the bench because you have no more shot attempts to go around.

It's not nothing. It's supposedly guaranteed to be a lotto pick.

But yes, it is frustrating. I think we would have done it if Robinson wasn't available and if there was a way to get Lowry and Henson, but such a scenario didn't seem doable.

And to think, if we would have offered Casspi + our 1st (the package for Hickson from last year), we probably would have got Lowry this year.

Probably not. That pick is probably not going to be a lotto pick. This pick is probably going to be a lotto pick. Big difference.

We'll see about that, Toronto is starting to make some sense with their roster. If the big they drafted last year comes in ready to go you're talking middle of the pack lotto at best. They were already right in the middle at 8. I think we all would have been more than fine giving up a closer to top 10 pick for Lowry. Going from top 5 in a good draft to farther back while not getting a player they wanted back in Hayes in the deal is a major step down for the Rox.

Toronto could easily make the playoffs in the East this year. I bet you that pick won't be in the top 12, at least. Meanwhile, isn't the protection of our pick going down every year? Eventually we're going to have to give it up.

What I was hearing is that they're doing some kind of weird protection with the pick to ensure that it's a lotto pick. So like, it'll probably be something where Houston doesn't get it unless it's low enough at a certain point.

And we might not have to give ours up if we suck for long enough. It doesn't eventually become unprotected. It eventually turns to cash. But that's not for a while. We'll hopefully be good enough to lose it when it's at 12 or 13. I don't the protection ever goes below that.

There is a low and high protection put on the pick. Meaning the Raps pick has to fall between 4-14 for HOU to receive it. As the years pass the low protection falls 3-14, 2-14, ect. After 6 years the pick is unprotected i think

So basically they'll be getting that pick this year then. Unless they make the playoffs.

If we sign JT starting at around 6mil and keep Honeycut then we are easilly over the league min.
Does anyone else believe that Petrie, or rather the Maloofs would use up the remaining space on perhaps a disgruntled star or a star that has a longish deal the team doesn't want to pay due to tax concerns at the deadline?
Maybe something like Garcia's expiring and some of the space for a player earning up to 13-13.5 mil?

If this is the roster for next year then we are definitely going to be in the bottom 3 in the west....

And who is left that we can sign that would push us above that?
Who are we clearly better than out of Suns/Hornets/Rockets/Blazers/Warriors/Mavs?
I think we have a shot at least to be above them IF this teams gets an identity and put players into definitive roles.
