With this roster it's time to get rid of Petrie. Just look at this team:

Cousins is are only hope & he won't stick around if we don't get him some help. Now we at the cap after today.

Cousins came out and asked for Terrence Williams directly to the media. Now he's not coming back. Pretty sure Cousins will remember this when it's time to re-sign with us.

Is he for sure not coming back? I wouldn't think he'd be more than a minimum signing anyway at this point.

Not that I trust Grant 100%, but he's already said several times today that he's gone.

Came out before the summer and said that you can't let Petrie go now until he had a chance to start making the right moves around Cousins and co. Well, this summer was his chance, and so far? Woah. The man has the deadline and if nothing, or more nonsense transpires, you have to get the man away from this franchise before Cousins bolts.

And those who deny the repercussions of repeatedly not making moves that help your team or the talent on it, or spend unwisely must have never heard of Orlando, FL. In a singular sense big whoop, when those same things continue to transpire and pile on, it does mean something. Might be the same team that lets it's lame duck coach release a statement that threatens the strength of your relationship with your star player. Eh, if your Phil Jackson you let him pants Cousins in front of the home crowd at halftime for a week. But Paul Westphal? Good dude I'm sure, Cousins is a spoiled punk at times I'm sure. Big money business if tough, but so is losing.

I can't stand the guy and his constant brown-nosing to the Maloofs.

I think a lot of Petrie's issues come from the limited spending ability. In the last 6 or so year, he often swings for the fences on high risk high reward type players and as you would expect, often comes out empty handed.

I am bitterly disappointed with what we have done this off-season. We have downgraded in talent (JJ for T-Will) without actually really addressing the need and then we go out and sign another shot happy undersized scoring PG to add to an already crowded back court.

Brooks signing would not be bad if we already did not have IT and MT. Its a fairly nice pick up on the cheap, but as is the case with a lot of our players, individually they are good solid players but they do not fit in the team concept. That is my major beef with what we are doing.

In the process of swinging for the fences in hope of getting better we have managed to stay stagnant and blow our cap space in the process. Salmons, Hayes, Outlaw, Johnson and Brooks amount to over $22 million worth of contracts. That a lot of cap blown on the players that just are not good fits on this team.

Now the Brooks signing would be quite reasonable if we already did not have IT. I think he could be a great little player off the bench as a spark plug. On certain teams he is also a good starter. On out team where Cousins, Evans, MT, Robinson, IT, Brooks, Salmons, Outlaw, Jimmer etc.. all need the ball to be effective, its a disaster in the making. There is only so many minutes and so many shots to go around.

And on top of that, with all the moves we have not improved defensively at all. That in itself is scary when you consider we were the worst defensive team in the league last year.

Limited spending ability? You do realize he just spent a lot of money this summer right? This idea that the Maloofs didn't spend has to be put to rest right now. Did they spend it all one player, or overpay for any one player?

The rest of what you said is all true, but I don't see that being the Maloofs unless they are telling Petrie who to go after.

Yeah, time to put that spending limit to rest now. They had to cut Whiteside so they wouldn't go over, so they are spending....just not spending it on the right places. Instead of going for the home run, we keep going for the cheapest and simple solution. Treading water for the last 5 years and going.

When I say spending ability, I an referring to them limiting on what we can spend EACH off-season. We had the most cap room last year but Petrie was limited in what he could spend. He didn't have an OK to spend all what ever million it was, he was just allowed to spend up to the minimum. So instead of having $20 million to play with, he had $8 million to play with and all these areas that needed to be address.

What that leads to of course is buying players of lesser value so you "address" as many needs as you can. So instead if say spending $7 million on Dalembert or someone like that, and splashing the rest of the $13 million on an all-star starter at SF, or 2 quality starter at 2 other position, you are forced to lower your targets and pay Chuck Hayes $5 million and Travis Outlaw $3 million.

Then you are on to the same thing next off-season and all that leads to picking up average talent on overpaid contracts and limiting your spending ability.

So while we used up our cap space we were limited in how we spent it and the time frame in which we spent it. That has led to average player signings, losing the cap space and still not getting better.

Maloofs were not able to spend their cap space last season so they did it bit by bit but in the processed we just ruined our chances of putting together a play off type team. What we have is another average lottery team in the making and no cap room. The worst possible place you could be in as a team

I know what you're saying, but it's not like any other team out there is going out of it's way to spend over the cap either. This team is in a unique, if not somewhat negative position because they have to conserve as much as possible because the big contracts will start flowing soon.

God I hate Grant. What a tool.
