The Nets just signed Donte Greene, I personally have always thought he sucked. Am I right / wrong? Just how bad is this guy?

(He was presumably given the veteran's minimum, no word on whether the deal is guaranteed or not)

He has the talent to be a very good player, but so far, he hasn't shown the drive at all. At his best, he can defend very well, get on a hot streak shooting, and he's always a good finisher.

But his focus waivers a lot, meaning his shot is wildly inconsistent (and sometimes his shot selection is really bad), and his defense isn't always all that great. At that point he just kind of floats around in the game, getting a couple nice dunks in transition. Some here think he's ideal as a stretch 4. I think this is wrong because he has an inconsistent jumper, and if you put him as a stretch 4 next to Lopez, I'd guess your team will just never get any rebounds ever.

He's an extremely likable guy with a great personality, but probably to a fault. He has the talent to be a very good player, but seems to be happy just being in the league, cheering on teammates from the bench. Maybe a change of scenery and getting to play with an all-world PG will help him. I have real doubts though.

Suck is such a strong word. He can contribute, IMO for his talent to shine he has to be used at PF, just not skilled enough to be a full time wing.

He is worth the minimum, always rolling the bones with Donte.

You'll love him as a person. Great guy. That's all I have to say about Donte.

He hasn't lived up to his potential yet, but there is still time.
