Another report came out and said they are not allowing sponsorships for more than 1 year. Pretty easy to read between those lines.

I saw this on the news last night. If they can't get new sponsors & fans stop going to the games this year lights out for the Maloofs.

For who, the Magoof's?

They can't afford to hang on to the team with zero income.

The only good news is we know we can really hurt them by not supporting the team. They spent the max cap this year 55 million & with the sponsors pulling out right before training camp starts they have to be worried. If ticket sales are bad, lets hope, this will force their hand sooner than later. Best scenario is they sell to a local & keep the team here. The problem is their 43% of the team is not worth enough unless someone overpays by 125 million. Since this is last business they own they are looking to keep the team & move if they can find a city to help pay their loan to Sac & moving cost of 30 million.

For us fans I am not so sure to read into this as a good or bad thing ?

On one hand it can appear that the Maloofs are set to relocate & thus the reason for sponsors to pull out ?
On the other hand if the Maloofs f**cked those sponsors and are now losing them then this could force the Maloofs to have to sell & if thats to a person who can afford the team and keep them here then its a blessing ?

The alarming thing is that they're only taking one year marketing deals. This suggests they already have a plan of some sort in place.

Yup. Considering their finances, there is only one possible explanation for turning away easy money from sponsors. I think that our only hope at this point is that the owners will reject the relocation request from them or whoever buys the team.

Would any of you be mad if the Kings relocated to Seattle?

Hey, I'm with you...my hometown is Sac, but now I split my time between SoCal and Sac for business. I just can't imagine losing the Kings, but I do try to envision a situation where they relocate and I'd still be happy. Since Seattle has the go-ahead for a new arena, I wouldn't mind the Kings moving to the Great Northwest. Seattle has been my second home since I was a kid. The people are great and I've always felt bad that they lost the Sonics.

Stern has said in the past that he doesn't want to fight any antitrust lawsuits by the Maloofs or any owners. The NBA can't force a sell. If they want to move or sell the NBA won't stop them. Seattle is doing everything right to get a team & the NBA wants a team back in that market.

The scenarios go like this for my preferences:
1) Maloofs sell the team to an owner than wants to keep them here, and isn't a terrible businessman.

2) Maloofs keep the team in Sac and continue to mismanage them.

3) Kings move to Seattle

4) Kings move somewhere else.

Basically, if they're going anywhere, I'd prefer it to be Seattle just so that another deserving fanbase can get a team, but I certainly would also still be devastated.

Kings have gained other sponsors. I guess they will not be losing the money some had thought..
The Kings have renewed numerous corporate alliances for the upcoming season, including:
Wells Fargo Roseville Auto Mall Tecate
Wells Fargo Insurance Services El Dorado Hills Town Center Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann & Girard
MillerCoors SMUD California Family Fitness
Anheuser-Busch Bella Bru The Golden 1 Credit Union
Zoom Imaging Solutions GSL Fine Lithographers E. & J. Gallo Winery
adidas The Sacramento Bee Burkett's
Muscle Milk Western Health Advantage Jimboy's Tacos
The California Endowment Cafeteria 15L/Mix Burger Rehabilitation
State Farm Heineken The Buzz Oates Group of Companies
Wienerschnitzel

Joining these renewed sponsors are a number of partners currently under contract with the team, such as Pepsi, Subway, Jack in the Box, UC Davis Health System, Pizza Guys, U.S. Bank, XO Communications, Von Housen Mercedes, Pacific Coast Building Products, Bank of America, AT&T, Teichert, Ernst & Young, Hallsten Corporation, InterState Oil Company, Envision Rx, Cache Creek Casino Resort, Comcast SportsNet, American River Packaging and Synergex.

Additionally, the team has secured attractive new partnerships for 2012-13, headlined by technology stalwart Nokia Siemens Networks and retail leader Walmart—both entering their first-ever sponsorship commitment with an NBA franchise. The Kings also welcome back Verizon Wireless, a longtime partner of the organization during previous seasons.
