Thoughts?

I was actually hoping that they would try some kind of read and react offense so this is pretty exciting news to me.
Pros as I see it:
*It should allow DMC to use his passing skills more effectively.
*Chuck will actually be useful on the offensive side of the floor.
*If Robinson can refine his passing skills he might flourish as well. The slashing ability he showed in summer league would be a great asset too.
*It can hide the fact that there is no real floor general on this team.
Cons:
*No idea who can teach it to these guys. Does anyone on the staff have firsthand experience with the triangle offense?
*The guards will have to change their mindsets quite a bit in order to move the ball and themselves enough to make the offense work.
*It'll probably take multiple seasons before it becomes second nature.

Yes, been saying it for years. Been obvious for years. I just don't know if they have the right coach to do it. Westphal tried to put in motion but by the time he did, which was major league the right move!, the players had had enough of his attitude. Trying to teach players a read and react offense when they are sick of hearing your voice just won't happen.

Last year had clues to how this team can work, just have to hope Smart and crew were paying attention. Thought he was but then he started cramming a simple pick and roll offense down our throats. Every team plays pick and roll to an extent, but that can't be the option A for a team like this. This team doesn't have the right bigs or wings for that style of offense and has creative ball handling/passing bigs and wings coming out it's ***.

I agree that we would need a facilitating big to pull this off. Is Brad Miller available?

From the front page, so this looks like it is going to be a thing.

Personally, I think we have nothing to lose. Anything that would help ball movement sounds good to me. It will also slow down the pace, which will help us...because the other team wont score as much.

Just hope they don't ditch it for that lackluster pick and roll again. Smart keeps saying it worked so well for them last year, my question is compared to what? Triangle will be hard to perfect, just hope they stick with it this time. Anyway, good move, but I think we all know there is an important ingredient missing that pretty much makes spreading the floor possible. I have a feeling we see a lot of floor spreading out of Cousins because he'll have to. Unless Tyreke has really improved that shot, or James Johnson has, this could be tough to truly space the floor. This may be a situation that Petrie has to cure, like most of the others.

Chris Webber said it best in his preview of the NBA. All the talk about playoffs and whatnot is just foolish and naive at this point.

No. Triangle only works when you have the personnel to pull it off. Even with the Lakers, there were some years and a lot of plays where it combusted because some of the players didn't really understand it. What ended up happening was a lot of fruitless passes/handoffs, then dump the ball to Kobe at the end of the shot clock for a last second desperate shot.
