Keith Smart is not expected to be retained, according to a report.

Malone is familiar with prospective Kings' owner Vivek Ranadive due to their connection with the Golden State Warriors.

What is Malone's philosophy? Hopefully its defense.

He is a defensive guy, would rather him being a lead assistant on the team rather than the main guy at this time. To many other big named coaches willing to turn around their careers out there to shun them for Malone. But he could be our Frank Vogal/Scottie Brooks guy

Chris Paul wanted Mike Malone. He used to run their defense back at NOH.

Schlenk, Warriors' assistant GM, would be a good choice for GM if we are serious about getting a guy like Malone for HC too. Both Schlenk & Malone have chemistry with each other and are up and coming people in their respective positions.

He's an intriguing candidate for the head coaching position. I like that he's a defensive minded coach, nice! Sounds like a good fit for this team.

I like this. Guy has a proven record of turning teams into a much better defensive sides - ESPECIALLY as far as team-defense goes, which is exactly what we need.

Let's say dream scenario is taking him in as lead assistant under say Sloan or smth, but obv that won't happen, so I'd be absolutely on board with him taking the HC position for us.

Time for our youngsters to actually learn what WORK and DEFENSE means. Let's do this.

Was he with Monty Williams in New Orleans when Thornton played there?

One of the biggest reasons why Thornton didn't play much over there was that the lack luster defense he showed on the court hence him being benched all the time.

I wonder if Thornton will lose more minutes if Malone is here and still preached the same philosophy i.e. no defense, no playing time.

Then more than half of the roster won't play
Thornton has proven that he can score in bunches so he would most likely remain the 6th man.

I hope Malone stays with the Warriors.... He's done wonders with the Warriors focus on defense.

I hope we lock Malone up. I'd rather the unproven head-coach but proven defensive culture changer in Malone, then a hack like Vinny.
