According to Amick who is probably the most reliable source for Kings news, these are the candidates that Vivek is currently looking at

RC Buford, President San Antonio Spurs
Chris Wallace, General Manager Memphis Grizzilies
David Morway, former General Manager Indiana Pacers
Travis Schlenk, Assistant General Manager Golden State Warriors
Troy Weaver, Assistant General Manager Oklahoma City Thunder

Who would you prefer?

I like Chris Wallace, David Morway & Chris Schlenk in that order. I left out RC Buford and Troy Weaver since it appears that it would be a long shot of even getting them or even getting permission to talk to either.

I put Wallace and Morway ahead of Schlenk due to the fact they are proven the 2 teams they basically assembled are in the Conference finals (Memphis & Indiana). I like Wallace more since he also helped Ainge in Boston before going to Memphis and unlike Morway he hasn't been away from the game in the last couple years. Wallace can be had since his duties have been diminished due to new ownership.

I think this will determine if Malone will be the next coach or someone else since I think if Schlenk gets the GM position he will more than likely go with his Warriors' ties and bring in Malone.

I agree with your list 100 percent. Buford would obviously be the top guy but he's a long shot. I feel good about that list of guys but hope Ranadive would shy away from getting all GS guys. If we could get Wallace to go along with Malone, I would be one very happy Kings fan.

Unless we get Buford, I'd actually be disappointed if we let Petrie go for any of these guys. It would feel like change for change's sake rather than change for the better. Give Petrie a ton of money to work with and I think he could construct a hell of a team again. But if we could get Buford to build the next generation Spurs over here, I'm all for it.

If I HAD to rank the rest of the guys, after Buford, I'd go with Morway, Wallace, Weaver, Schlenk in that order.
