Kings Gauging Interest Of Larry Bird In GM Position
May 31, 2013 9:34 PM EDT
The Sacramento Kings have sent out feelers to determine whether Larry Bird might be interested in their vacant general manager position.
Bird reportedly ranks near the top of Vivek Ranadive's candidate list.
Bird stepped down as president of the Indiana Pacers last summer, due in part to health issues with his back and shoulder.

Re: Larry Bird GM ????
I definitely like! He has done a good job in Indy and has done some great work when it comes to drafting players. He would also mean a great deal in terms of being an authority figure. Just imagine what this could do for DMC. Bird is someone who is respected world wide qnd I think he would be tremendous for DMC's development!
Its a HUGE yes from me. I would also like to bring in young up and comer to be his assistant with a view of taking over in a few years time when Bird retires for good or we move him into the Consultant role as a transition to retirement.

I know this would make Jerry Reynolds a very very happy man (both are from the same little town in Indiana).
I'm personally not opposed to any of the GM candidates that have been discussed, including Larry Bird. I think Jerry West is consulting Vivek, and I trust his opinion.

Both Larry Bird and Chris Wallace may very well know what to do with this team. Both would be good options.
