Cliff's notes: If his explanation is to be believed the commitment to make the donation was in May, and a bill was paid on June 21st that included that commitment.

And, more relevant to us, he says he's going to take steps to try to get the signatures removed that were collected with this money.

Abbreviated Cliff's notes: I got caught meddling in the politics of the Sacramento arena deal so I'm going to throw the lawyers under the bus in an attempt to deflect the NBA's attention away from my screw up.

I've heard conflicting things about whether or not he'll have the power to remove those signatures. Would like to think so.

Update: According to Hansen, the better neighborhood group has sent the signatures to stop despite his insistence that they don't.

I don't know whether to believe him or not, but it's kind of irrelevant if he has no power to stop them (as I kind of suspected was the case).

It's 18,000 signatures, so if things check out, a vote is probably on the way. Kind of a big IF though.

Since the signatures have to be validated, and by their math about 70% of the signatures collected are valid..they are short about 13429. They need to get an estimated 31,429 signatures total.

And 3,000 have petitioned to have their signatures removed.

I am not sure they will be heard. My hope is now that this project has little to no opposition the signature gatherers hit a wall.

Carmichael Dave says to expect that to be waived.

I wish I knew if Hansen had the power to take back the signatures so I would know who to direct my hate towards.

That's easy...NO!

The linked article says they will probably throw out the fact that requirement was missed because a judge would likely do the same thing.
