Kings vs Clippers Preseason

Looks like the starters for opening night will be:
PG- Vazquez
SG- Thornton
SF- Salmons
PF- Patterson
C- Cousins
I like the idea of Thompson off the bench, add more defense and rebounding that Patterson wouldn't be able to provide if he was the first big man off the bench.

Defense had been pretty weak tonight. I used to think B-Mac is better off the bench, but Thorton does absolutely nothing for us on defense. It's only a matter of time before he's the starter anyway. IT was ballin when he was in. I only wish he had the willingness to get other involved like Vasquez. It feels so weird to see a guy who actually wants to pass the ball.

Cousins is going to work tonight. Spacing is nice with Patterson out there.

Wow, warriors fan here, I was at the game Thursday night, and I watched you guys come back from 17 down to win, and I'm watching you destroy the Clippers...preseason or not, your defense is ways better, and everyone seems to be buying into Malone's system. We want Malone back in Oakland please!

Haphazard start to go with the haphazard lineup changes of preseason but I think the starting unit and bench combo is beyond figured after this one, for the most part at least.
IT looking good in the BoJax role and I really like Hayes and JT off the bench to help balance out the reckless yet exciting qualities that IT brings to the game. JT is a great look off the bench and he is going to look awesome going up against second stringers.
After the half the team got settled and the starters played a controlled game offensively, defense looked good during that stretch as well, coincidence? Nope.
OK, enough fooling around coach, this is your rotation. Except if Luc Mbah a Moute gets healthy of course, stick him in that starting 3 spot please.

I'm seeing a lot of tremendously positive things. I'm happy to see that we have cohesive offensive sets, and that there seems to be actual structure to our defense. Last year it seemed like our defensive philosophy was go get the ball, don't worry about playing solid defense just try and create a turnover. This year I can already see an improved effort on rotating on assignments.
Pass first point guard, and a PF that spreads the floor an pulls defenders out of the lane is a massive improvement for us. I still think we need more talent over all to do anything serious but it is encouraging to see a functionally better team on the floor.
We need a real presence at SF, Salmons isn't cutting it, he hasn't been terrible but he doesn't seem to bring any Pluses to any aspect of the game anymore. We need an active SF that teams have to think about not a guy who is just a complete after thought. We also need to add a little bit of shot blocking to the lineup, I would be happy to see the addition of a guy like Ekpe Udoh. I'm sure we could get him for cheap and he would provide just enough help to make a big difference.

I think the rotation is probably close to settled now, except at SF. Mbah a Moute could still work his way into the rotation. But I kind of like having Salmons off the bench to bring another ballhandler on with IT. Ensures none of that responsibility will fall on McLemore.

Yup, Salmons has always done better off the bench with more opportunity to handle the ball. Plus with Outlaw starting it mitigates Patterson being undersized somewhat.

Cousins is definitely in the best shape of his career right now.
