Why isn't Ray McCallum not getting minutes?

Warriors fan here. I remember being really impressed with McCallum's game during pre-season because he looked like a veteran running the offense and his defense wasn't bad either. Seemed like a hard worker and a real steal in the draft. Saw the wiretap saying Kings are sending him to the d-league....i'm wondering why he isn't getting minutes on your team? Are there too many point guards or is he just not talented enough to play right now? Do you think he's part of your immediate future and will play minutes in the nBA this season?

He's a raw rookie, and we have Vasquez (who's been decent) and Isaiah (who's been insane) ahead of him at PG.

He was promising in the Summer League and preseason so he's got the talent to be good. He'll get some seasoning in the D-League and the Kings FO will probably give him consideration when making decisions on Vasquez and Thomas next offseason.

IMO, in the little he's shown, he's our best defender at the PG position, but yes he's still green as a rookie and has vets in front him. He's in the long term plans of this team, so I'm not worried. Ray is a very good athlete as well, best I've seen as a KINGS fan.

I'm confident he will be our starting pg for the future it might take a couple years tho. First we have to trade grevis or IT.

Starter? I'd wait to see him play when minutes count before crowning him pg of the future. With that said, I'm a big fan of Ray Mac.

Well looks like IT is our 6th man/closer and I've seen enough of GV to know he's one if the worst defenders ever so yeah Ray Mac a starter in two years. I don't really need to see him play minutes when it counts to know GV ain't gunna last long with Malone playing bad bad bad defense.

 Your double negative title is actually asking why he IS getting playing time.

The simple answer is (or rather, WAS) Vasquez and Thomas. But now that Vasquez is gone, you would assume McCallum isn't going to not be playing.

I think Jimmer isnt going to not play a lot, so chances of Ray Mac not playing are not uncertain much.

Coach Michael Malone said, "The reality is we need to see Ray McCallum play. He had a tremendous training camp for us, did some really good things in the preseason, so we'll give him a look during the season at the backup one to see who he is, where he's at and what he needs to work on."
