Hopefully DCUZ goes beastmode again and we could pull this one out.

My main hope is that we can learn to defend. Not much to worry about offensively right now.

Dribble penetration aside, does it seem to anybody else that every team that plays us hits ALL their jump shots? They just won't miss anything...

A team built like a Chris Mullin era Warriors team can't defend? SHOCKER!!! hahaha. They should be able to do better than this but trading away the only thing close to players capable of playing NBA level defense is hurting right now. More than it should but still. Rudy Gay and Cousins were at least trying early on and JT is upping that value so that's something I guess.

Yeah, but there is a reason for it too. When you give a team open looks off of their set plays, like a corner 3 here, or an easy look as a guard gets obliterated by a simple screen there, the other team gets in a rhythm and even tough shots will feel like a rhythm shot to them after that. They should cool off but this has a lot to do with not having any real defensive personnel, or at the very least a commitment to get up into players, fight through screens, etc. Malone may indeed have to look at defensive adjustments from here on in terms of the kind of defense they play. He may have to resort to some gimmicky zone defense because he just doesn't have the personnel to play true one on one D. Sure was nice to have Mbah a Moute for that week or two.

That's a false conclusion to make. Nobody is saying this team should be stoppers defensively. But Malone has improved the D wherever he's gone, and we honestly look worse than ever defensively. Something else is going wrong here. We weren't supposed to be good on D, just not quite so horrendously bad.

I am and I'll tell you why. There is still a major flaw with the offense of this team if they want to defend. While they are much better suited to play a run and gun style now than pre-trades, that is not a style you want to go with if you are trying to control a game. They are on pace to shoot the ball 90+ times in this one. 90+!!! That's ridiculous. If they were scoring a 130 every game and winning then I can see the point but it's a reverse effect. Of course we all know what "wins championships" and that ain't it anyway. Kings have some of those ingredients offensively to be at that level but it looks like the wrong style for your franchise guy if your goal is to win.

This is also where not having Vasquez hurts. With IT running the point they are similarly playing an uncontrolled run and gun style just like last year. I liked how Vasquez at least slowed down things at times.

Should probably find Kemba--make him a passer at this point.

According to who? I'd look back to this summer, probably before the Carl Landry trade to see what the "goal" was moving forward.

Improved defense should just mean going from ghastly to bad. Sure, there is something else wrong here but personnel is a flaw that can't be overlooked at all.

Personnel is the reason we're not a really good defense--not the reason we're this completely God awful.

Pacing started off much better but then they went back to the bad habit of playing garbage fast ball late.

Didn't say it was, but being not a good defensive team wasn't the idea here I thought. We'll see what Pete has in store to make some more sense of the roster. My opinion is that the coach needs some help here.

The lack of defensive talent on this roster is disgusting.

We had encouraging steps in the offseason to improve our defense and passing and we traded both away

This team is at the verge of implosion imo.

A lot of pissed off people out there. You can see a lot barking with one another.

Ben was his usual scrub 2-8, his story is getting old. I wanted him to be on that MCW/Oladipo/Giannis tier before the season, not a bust so far
