Pre draft workouts

Ennis, Smart, and Vonleh. Funny I don't see Gordon. Not sure if there will be more workouts. If we stay at 8 I'd prefer Gordon.

I'm sure he'll be there unless Gordons agent is like "hell no". Which he might be with the Kings recent history of adding similar bigs.

I think I remember reading Malone liked what he heard when they interviewed him so I'm sure the Kings aren't disinterested.

Gordon just isn't similar to TRob at all. They're both on the small side and athletic but the comparisons stop there.

The process is still young though. I'm sure he'll come in. I hope this isn't indicative of too much interest in Ennis though. I'd rather develop Ray Mac than waste a high pick on him.

Dude is a stud! His games foundation is exactly what the Kings need from their PG granted he continues to work on his shot. I think there is a slight, but real possibility if the Kings develop him he could be the starter in a few seasons. With that said I agree they shouldn't draft another PG like Ennis or Payton.

I like the inclusion of Elfrid Payton. If we traded down for a couple picks I would love to take a flyer on him and Payne.

Payton has skills and is an ideal PG prospect. With IT and McCallum on the roster there are just too many other needs on the roster. Now if the plan is to trade IT and -dare I say it- Start McCallum, then drafting Payton makes tons of sense.

But the situation might be. Gordon could certainly find himself in the same gray area where one day they may see him as a SF, the next a PF. One time as a ball handler, another time as a finisher in the pick and roll. The lack of definition and how he fits could rear it's ugly head again.

With the possibility of IT leaving this offseason I see no problem in bringing in Ennis for a workout. We could be drafting our future starting point guard

But that's part of his appeal as a prospect--his versatility. There's no rule that says a guy can't develop unless he's asked to do only one thing offensively as a rookie.

FWIW though, I think we should throw him to the fire at PF from day one if we take him.

On that note, it turns out we DID work Gordon out today: [tweet]https://twitter.com/GoodmanESPN/status/473625206045437952[/tweet]

Weird that it's just now coming out. Makes me think they were trying to keep it secret.

Very weird. I havent been on Instagram for a few hours but I looked at the picks the Kings posted earlier and there is not one of Gordon. I did see Vonleh, Smart, and Ennis tho.

They said Aaron Gordon had a private workout. Just him, the front office, and no media.

Workout vid and interviews for the other players have been posted. https://www.youtube.com/user/kingsflix/videos

Saddened by Smart's interview. Having listened to his other interviews, it sounds like he wants no part of SAC. Tyler Ennis sounds like he's trying to weasel his way into the top 10. Vonleh sounds all casual. I don't think he cares where he goes, and it sounds like he's been doing his homework. Impressed by him.

Huh that's really interesting about Aaron Gordon. I wonder what that means.

I honestly didn't get that vibe from Smart pretty much at all. He just didn't seem overly enthusiastic which is kinda his thing. If you watch the predraft workout video they have, Vonleh looks like he has the build of Harrison Barnes and he doesn't elevate at all on his jumpshot which could be a problem going against length. I still like Smart out of everyone. Wish we could see Gordon's workout. I wonder if he requested it be private or the Kings.

Just saw an article which said Gordon's workout was more relaxed. I guess they got some shots up, but wanted to just talk to get to know each other. Based on his comments about Cousins it seems like he would be excited to play with us.

The reason I say that is because usually Smart is much sharper with his responses. Here, he's stumbling over words and saying things that don't make any sense, like he didn't prepare, isn't into it, or just wants to leave. Usually I do get lil enthusiasm from him, though that's just my opinion.

I didn't watch but if its the case might just have to do with Smart and Gordon's stocks, and the fact that Smart is by and large ranked higher in the mocks.. So Gordon might feel fortunate to be picked 8 whereas Smart might feel slighted to drop to 8

If he doesn't work out with anyone it means they want teams to see his skill level and not the potential disadvantages of his tweener status.

Yeah, a little flat footed on Vonlehs shot but I'm not as concerned with his elevation as much as his mobility and running speed. When I watch him run I go back to him being more of a center.

Okay I'm in the right spot...no beef with City of Trees. I just was too lazy to read and look over the threads.

Anyhow I think this is a big development. If this kid is in play at 7 then one of Vonleh, Smart, or Randle is falling. Smart's stock is rising. I am more inclined to keep this pick.

Don't forget the love that Boston seems to have for Aaron Gordon....there could be a scenario when two of vonleh, smart, and randle are at 8 to choose from.

In another thread someone said they thought the lack of people working out has been a sign of a trade looming.

I see it differently. This year the Kings have made little noise about who is coming in, and workouts have been kind of hush hush. That leads me to believe they feel there is going to be someone at 8 that is going to have an impact and they don't want said player to move up?

We are playing some poker though if you will.

The more I dig it seems like no teams are doing a ton of workouts. I'm thinking this year the teams are going to the players and it's more group workouts this year. I watched a vid on DE that had Smart, Kyle Anderson, and some others working out and I saw Mullin and D'allesandro in the stands. Might be players not wanting to have to pay for the travel or something? Or the team maybe?
