Isaiah Thomas to Suns On Four Year, $27M S&T with Kings

Isaiah Thomas has reached agreement with the Phoenix Suns and will be dealt as a sign-and-trade on a four-year, $27 million contract.

Thomas is a restricted free agent of the Sacramento Kings.

The Kings will receive a $7 million traded player exception, along with the draft rights to Alex Oriakhi.

That's it?

I'd rather have Thomas at 6.7 mill than Collison at 5.

Thing here is no way Thomas comes back to Sac for 6.7 per year. The Only reason his deal is so low is the Kings probably agreed not to match.

Thomas is now the best contract in the NBA.

Ganna miss that guy. Idk what Pete is thinking letting Isaiah walk for 6.75 mil but that TPE is very much needed if they actually use it...

If he handles the ball for half the clock in Phoenix like he did in Sacramento he's a steal. He's proven he can produce at a near elite level, but with players like that it's all about situation. I don't think he can get near the usage there that he did with the Kings.

So overpay Collison 5+ some change.

Let IT walk for 6.75?

Either pay real talent like IT, or go on the cheap.

Tired of this mid level for garbage never ending bs.

Collison now officially in the Jarl Thomandry 2.0 welfare check alliance.

Collison is a better fit. Still had to hope the Kings got some talent in return for IT. They didn't so overall well, lets just say Stauskas better be statue worthy when his career is done.

To be honest, I am not that upset with a PG rotation of Collison and Ray. We kinda have 2 point guards that are long, decent defenders (both these guys can press full court), and can hit a shot. They are no IT on the offensive end but I think the idea was to allow Stauskas and BigMac to get more touches.

The front office definitely have a plan in place if they didn't match the offer sheet.

4/27? That's an excellent value for a guy like Thomas.

To put things in perspective:

Landry's deal was 4/26.

and said no to 4/27 for Thomas.

I think this is what boils down too.

Fit.

They felt Thomas didn't fit with the roster they envisioned.

Yeah it's called not paying a huge luxury bill.

Are you saying they have a plan in place to get another PG or a trade in general?

It's not just that, they didn't view Thomas as the future PG in their vision.

I'm not sure myself. Half of the moves they've made are of the "wing'n it" variety. You can't go anywhere with that mentality. That pattern of GM'ing was set in stone well before this new group took over. At least the Collison signing makes some sense on paper.

Ok with the 7 million TPE, that's pretty close to a Thompson with his kicker or Landry for Smith deal.

How would that work with us being around the hard cap?

Not sure if this is what you mean but you can't combine a TPE with a player in a trade. The TPE is only good for a team looking to cut salary. Doubtful it gets used.

No. Combining names is just  to me.
My vote is it stops. But I'm only one man.

So I guess us fans can now connect this $7m TPE to the Kings shopping hard for a PF.
