Ping Pong Balls: Our Window of Opportunity

Tomorrows the day. For those who are extremely young or have had kids I feel like tomorrow is like the scene on Nemo where the fish broke the tank:

While we've been in this position of hoping for about a decade I'm about done feeling we'll move up. Instead tomorrow we'll get a better feel of how free agency will play out. Obviously if we hit the lotto we'd have more options. Drafting 9th is probably the worst thing that can happen for us.

What are you doing on draft day if we're top three, or 6-9? Are we keeping the pick, trading the pick...bring your crystal ball to the discussion.

You at one point in all these years felt the Kings would move up! Wow, aren't you the optimist! hehe. As long as they have a top 10 pick, and they should, they should be able to find someone that can help. I still think there is more immediate help and better fit players 6-10 than in the on top of the draft. The top of the draft is mostly players that don't fit for various reasons and if they do fit, the role for them to even come close to living up to their potential isn't there. The only way you draft a likely bench player is if they can shoot and defend. The only benefit I would see outside of getting Towns at 1 is moving down for a pick in that 4-10 range and getting something with it.

As for a prediction, Kings will get the 3rd pick and trade it for Ty Lawson. I will then post a fire Vlade thread.

I've always been one to keep my fingers crossed and pray we move up. Disappointment year after year has taken any optimism I usually have and turned it upside down. No doubt in my mind #6 slips through the cracks.. #7 is my prediction. I'm joining the NBA lottery conspiracy group if we fall to #9

If you genuinely believe 7, I can see where you will be calm through the entire process. For me if Silver says 7 my neighbors will hear me, lol

I'm prepared for the Kings slip at #7. There will be a BS/out of reach team gets into the top-3 and everyone else drops from their projected position by 1-2.

I would be happy if we stayed at #6 but would blow my load if the Kings gets into the top-3 haha

I agree with most of that. It's one of the reasons I'm not too jazzed about moving up to top three this year. Karmically I don't know if I want our number to come up without elite prospects sitting up top. Don't get me wrong, personally I like Mudiay and think the kid will be good, and there is some small part of me fantasizing about getting three for that, but the kid doesn't fit with Cuz and Rudy and winning immediately. There are questions about Towns and Okafor's upside and/or fit, and I personally am not big on Russell. Prospect wise I think we can get what we need staying put, although I am very open to moving the pick if we don't see a kid who fits and can help us now.

I think the Kings will get into the top 3... But that could be a curse as I think Myles Turner is the ideal fit next to Cousins... And Okafor is possibly the worst fit...

Have to avoid "intel" somehow as I'll be at son's baseball game, but taping it.

My prediction is we will get screwed and draft 7th.

Still remember seeing us land Pervis back in the day.

Last time we were in top 3 was 1991. Think of all the bad teams, 25 years of basically getting screwed.

I laugh at the guys on the general board making fun of conspiracy thoughts, let them get hosed for 25 years and have the refs mess with their only shot to win a championship and see what they have to say.

Stern is gone and the board holds true for the most part. I'm not mad at #6. NY and LA swapping spots doesn't bother me. If LA and NY had made the top 3 then I'd be mad.... Kings will have a choice of Winslow, WCS, Johnson, and Porzingis. I'm okay with that.

I'm glad, they should have a shot to add someone who can help. The way it worked out might ensure that Winslow is there at the Kings pick too! Hope so, he'd end all questions about the teams SG spot and free up opportunities to dangle one of the Kings last two lotto picks.
