Rick Adelman

Do you think there's any chance that Vlade might consider firing George Karl and bringing back Rick Adelman.... We had our most successful years under Adelman, and Vlade played for him.

SacKingZZZ wrote:Yeah, Rick was brutal to young guys and I hate to say it but, Karl ain't much better. I have no doubts Adelman could work wonders for this team. He's one of those guys that always plays to his teams best talent and never forces a system on them if it doesn't fit.
If Karl somehow, some way can't work, Adelman is the ONLY guy out there that would take some tarnish away. I still hope Karl and Cuz can work it out and they can build off of some of the positives of last season. I want to see Karl with a full unit for once. Collison, Gay, and Cousins made up the foundation of one of the best starting units in the league last year for craps sake. What's the dang issue here! You added a great PF fit wise and now you just add that 3 and D guy with experience at SG, this is too easy guys.

Adelman is going to be 70 next year and has said that he is done coaching and wants to care for his wife of failing health. Sorry, Naysayer, Karl is the man!

Karl will be gone quickly if he is not going to relate to Cousins or crossed bounds with him

Honestly I don't see Mark Jackson getting another head coaching gig, at least not in the NBA, the way he clashed with Warriors management and some of the things that have resurfaced about him lately (what he said about Festus Ezeli), I wouldn't want him in Sac. If I were Vlade I would put in a call to John Calipari and see if there would be any interest in him coaching two of his former players.

I believe he said the same thing before he went to the Twolves as well. Those who post without basis or lack content back their arguments with lines like that, congrats for once again completely misinterpreting a post on this board. Read the bolded again, write it down on the palm of your hand if you have to. True words of a naysayer alright!!

Well, you're wrong.
The team announced that the Rockets and Adelman "have mutually agreed to part ways." Adelman's contract expires on June 30.
General manager Daryl Morey said in a statement Monday night that the decision came after "numerous discussions and careful consideration."
Now, Adelman will take time to ponder his next move. He said in the last week of the Rockets' season that he still has a passion for the job.
"I don't think I've lost the desire to coach; I think I still can do it," Adelman said. "This team has been a lot of fun. It's been tough during the season. I tell people that, when you go through it, it's not so easy. But when you work with a group of guys who just won't quit, and play above and beyond what people expect them to do, that's a lot of fun when you look back on it."

Im just tired of the posters that take back handed shots at Vlade and Karl but then try to negate the backlash they might get by throwing their vote of confidence behind them just in case they succeed. I'm calling people out when I see it! Vlade is the Head of the team. Period. Karl is the coach. Fall in or fall out! I will back them and stand up and take the flake if they fail.

I'm just taking a shot in the dark here but didn't Adelman finish his coaching career in Minnesota?? Yep

"I think it's time for me to step aside," Adelman said. "When I came here, we really tried to see if we could turn some things around and we made some strides. Not as much as we would have liked, but I think it's time for me to step aside and let someone else come in with this group. We're not that far away.
"I really enjoyed my time here. I thank [owner] Glen [Taylor] so much. He's the best owner I've ever been around. Not only as an owner, but as a person and everything. It's been an enjoyable experience, but I'm ready and my wife's ready to move on to another phase. We're looking forward to that."
"On behalf of the Minnesota Timberwolves, I would like to thank Rick for all he has done for our organization," said Taylor. "Under Rick's leadership, our team has improved each of the past three seasons. It has been a pleasure getting to know Rick and his wife Mary Kay, and I wish them the best in retirement."
Even as Adelman prepares to ride off into the sunset to spend more time with his beloved wife Mary Kay and eight grandchildren, his influence will remain in the league he called home for 25 years.

I wasn't responding to you. I was correcting SacKingZZZ who said that when he left the rockets he said that he was done coaching to take care of his wife of failing health. In fact he said right after his contract expired with the rockets that he still wanted to coach and he a few months later got the job with the Twolves. It's probably hard seeing all the replies clearly on a smart phone app so no biggie. But thanks for posting his statements when he retired from the twolves. It helps anyone not clear that he said he was done.
