2016
>Sacramento's 1st round pick to Chicago protected for selections 1-10 in 2016 and 1-10 in 2017.
The Sacramento Kings want to convey this pick to Chicago in 2016. Essentially every move Vlade Divac has made this offseason has had a hint of ‘win-now’ to it. If the Kings make the playoffs, Chicago gets the pick. If the Kings finish with a better record than ten other teams (and then subsequently fail to jump up in the lottery), Chicago gets the pick. If Chicago doesn’t receive this pick in 2016, and it isn’t because of lottery luck, something went wrong.
>2016 Protected First Round Pick Swap to Philadelphia
Philadelphia has the right to swap its 2016 1st round pick for Sacramento's 2016 1st round pick protected for selections 11-30 (if the Sacramento pick falls within its protected range, then Philadelphia's swap right and Sacramento's obligation to Philadelphia will be extinguished).
If the Kings convey their 2016 pick to Chicago, the most likely and ideal scenario, then this pick swap is extinguished and will have been ultimately meaningless. If the Kings are bad next season or the make an improbable improvement, Philadelphia has essentially acquired Sacramento’s ping-pong balls.
>2016 Protected Second Round Pick to Milwaukee
Milwaukee will receive the more favorable of Sacramento's 2016 2nd round pick protected for selections 56-60 and New Orleans' 2016 2nd round pick and New Orleans will receive the less favorable of these two picks (via Milwaukee's right to swap Sacramento for New Orleans) (if the Sacramento pick falls within its protected range, then Milwaukee's swap right and Sacramento's and New Orleans' obligations to Milwaukee will be extinguished).
>2016 Protected Second Round Pick to Oklahoma City
Sacramento's 2016 2nd round pick to Oklahoma City (via New Orleans) protected for selections 31-55 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Sacramento's obligation to Oklahoma City will be extinguished).
The Kings will likely be without their second round pick in 2016.
2017
>2017 First Round Draft Pick Swap to Philadelphia
If Sacramento conveys a 1st round pick to Chicago in 2016, then Philadelphia has the right to swap its 2017 1st round pick for Sacramento's 2017 1st round pick; if Sacramento does not convey a 1st round pick to Chicago in 2016, then Philadelphia has the right to swap its 2017 1st round pick for Sacramento's 2017 1st round pick protected for selections 11-30 (if the Sacramento pick falls within its protected range, then Philadelphia's swap right and Sacramento's obligation to Philadelphia will be extinguished).
This is pretty straightforward. Again, Ideally, and likely, the Kings will surrender their first round pick to Chicago in 2016. In 2017, Philadelphia will have another opportunity to swap first round draft picks with the Kings. If the Kings make the playoffs, or finish with a better record, and they don’t jump up in the lottery, the pick swap will again be rendered useless. Philadelphia is hoping the Kings implode, but if they don’t, and they steadily improve, all of this talk about how dangerous the pick swapping was will have been for naught. Only time will tell.
>2017 Protected Second Round Draft Pick to Cleveland
Sacramento's 2017 2nd round pick to Cleveland (via Boston) protected for selections 31-55 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Sacramento's obligation to Cleveland will be extinguished).
Unless the Kings finish with one of the five best records in the NBA in 2017, they will have their second round draft pick in 2017.
2018
>2018 Protected First Round Draft Pick to Philadelphia
Sacramento's 1st round pick to Philadelphia protected for selections 1-10 in 2018 (conveyable if Sacramento conveys a 1st round pick to Chicago in 2016) and unprotected in 2019.
If things go according to Vlade Divac’s plan, this pick will go to Philadelphia in 2018, and it will be somewhere in the 20’s. That being said, it’s hard enough to predict what a pick will look like in 2016. I can’t tell you what this roster will look like in 2018, but Divac made this move with the intention of contending in 2018, and surrendering a late first to do it.
The bottom line is this, if the Kings are better next season, and from that point continue to trend in the right direction, all of these different scenarios can play out in the Kings favor. They want to give Chicago their pick in 2016. They want to finish above the Philadelphia 76ers over the next two seasons so the pick swaps won’t matter, and they want to finish outside of the top-10 in 2018 so Philadelphia gets their owed protected first round draft pick before it becomes unprotected.
