Parallels to the 1998 season...

This season is the first time we have been this aggressive in free agency since 1998 IMO. In terms of quality of players and their roles, we have remade half of the team.
Like this year with Karl, 1998 was also Rick Adelman's first full year as the Kings head coach. He went on the lead us to 8 straight playoff appearances and one conference finals we should have won.
1998 was also the year we brought Vlade to Sactown and pair him with Webber up front. Speaking of Webber, at the age 25, he was becoming a superstar right about then, avg 40mins 20ppg 13rpg 4apg 2bpg 1spg and starting a 4 yr run in the Allstar game in '99. Cousins is 25 and made is first Allstar game this year, avg 34mins 24ppg 12.7rpg 3.6apg 1.7bpg 1.5spg.
1998 was also Peja first year with the team, being drafted 14th in the first rd.
Now in 2015, Vlade and Peja are back. George Karl is in town to solidify the head coaching position. Cousins is entering his prime as a dominate C/PF in the league and we have matched the free agency aggressiveness that sparked our most successful run in the playoffs.
Doesn't line up OCD perfect but the parallels are undeniable. Just thought it was interesting to look back to get a possible view of the future.
