Marvin Williams

I think that Marvin Williams should be the kings number one priority in Free agency this year.
This guy has steadily improved year after year, and has truly found his niche in the modern NBA, he is an ideal stretch 4 that shoots well and plays defense. I think he is going to get a pretty big contract but I think he is the exact type of player we need to invest in to take our roster to the next level.
His ability to spread the floor at PF with out being a liability on the defensive end will be invaluable to the kings. I can see him chasing down bigger forwards on the wings keeping them from penetrating or shooting over top. All the while allowing cousins to operate as the defensive anchor in the post .
What do you guys thinks of Signing Williams>?

I'd be open to signing him but I wouldn't go as far as to say he's priority #1. Pg and Sg are both higher concerns IMO.

Marvin Williams is probably the most realistic free agent Kings can get that will make a significant difference. Would much rather have Williams than Ryan Anderson, Harrison Barnes or Evan Fournier.

Id rather over pay all those guys plus Bazemore and Courtney Lee before we even entertain Williams.

I'm no longer on board over paying for Barnes. Rather just keep Gay. Both are talented low impact players.

I wanna trade gay for a point guard. Either for knight or holiday. I think those are realistic targets. Then use the pick to secure a shooting guard through the draft or trade. Start omri at small forward and try to sign dellavedova at back up of and sign Marvin Williams. Maybe use koufos and mclemore to trade for cap space or more backups that fit the team.
I'm assuming that Collison is gone or suspended due to his legal problems.
New lineup looks like this
Knight/dellavedova
Luwawwu/curry
Omri/bellenelli
Marvin/wcs
Cousins/wcs

While looking at Kings tweets on hoopshype I believe, I saw one from one of the basketball insiders saying the Kings are looking at trades and don't expect to be much of a player in FA. It's a smart move and I think Vlade may be quite aggressive on draft night, at least he should be. I think them not working about any top names might also have something to do with the fact that the Kings will be using that pick on draft night in a trade. Another smart move depending on who is there.
Marvin Williams might be closer to realistic but this might be a FA where someone like Williams as that stretch combo is highly sought after considering so many teams have so much space. I can't see the Kings nabbing any of the even remote name players come summer.
I really hope Joerger can pull some strings with someone like Courtney Lee perhaps and get him to Sacramento. He's one of those 4-5 perfect fits out there this summer. The others might not be realistic considering how damaged the Kings brand is these days.
Sign and trades might also be a Kings option. Either way I think the Kings need trades as is because the roster is too overloaded in the front court and back court if they add anyone at SG/C.

There's no doubt in my mind we can get Lee at 12-14mill.
Charlotte has to pay Lin, Batum, Williams than find a big man if they don't replace Al Jefferson whose contract expires as well.

Why would you even consider overpaying Barnes? Have you watched the playoffs?

Even if the plan is to trade you still need to evaluate every player top to bottom since trades aren't guaranteed.

Yeah, attacking teams like Portland and Charlotte would be wise. They have a lot to get done and keeping it all while adding to it might not be realistic.

I agree, but lets not forget, this is the 11th hour and I'm sure they are willing to put it all on the table. I just hope they put need front and center with whatever moves they make. No more "value" moves on pieces meant to help right away. They have to fit first and foremost.

Marvin would be a good signing. Can't imagine at his age there would be interest to sign here. If Williams sits at the table Vlade will have to speak in dollars to close the deal. Depending on how the draft and initial free agency goes, overpaying for a guy like Williams could be reality.

I like Marvin. He would be a good get for us. Solid level player on both ends. Anderson may be more influential on offense and can hit a tear on that end of the floor but his defense is average at best.

Have you considered Koufos, (Bellinelli)-Lee S&T deal.
If it goes through, you'd be left with 22 (29) mil cap space and #8 to fill PF and PG positions. Leaves you a lot of options.

Yeah we have discussed Koufus/ Lee S&T and most here seem to like the idea.

Sorry for popping in like that, but it seems like elegant solution, I'd say for both teams. They get rotation defensive minded big on decent contract for a player they probably wouldn't resign, and I think Lee would be very good and realistic fit into Kings team.
While we are at it, how do you rate your chances of bringing Conley over, is there something real with Joerger here, or is it just a pipe dream?
