Game 2. Spurs (1-0) vs Kings (1-0)

After all these years, it's finally here.

Spurs 1-0

Pop & company for the first time post the Duncan era

The Spurs manhandled the warriors in their road opener by 29 and are off to a good start.

One of the major differences this year is going to be the Gasol and Aldridge big man front line.

Danny Green is out tonight.

Kings 1-0

The Kings are on a back to back after winning the road opener in Phoenix. This early and for our new arena home opener fatigue probably won't be of that much concern.

This is one of those matchups where starting Kosta and Cousins may help us as big as the Spurs are.

No injury reports, Barnes is a bit banged up but looked pretty well last night.

Vegas lines

Most of the Vegas lines favor the Spurs at 8.5

I'm not getting my hopes up but tonight could be a huge statement game for the Kings. I hope everyone is engaged and playing within the system. I'd be happy taking an L if the game is competitive with smart basketball being played.

Personally I think Cousins/WCS would match up better with Gasol/Aldridge. Koufus guarding Aldridge's mid range game scares me.

I wonder if KK guards Gasol most of the time?

The Kings have such a BS schedule to start the year. The first two weeks is going to be brutal. Yeah, hopefully the effort is there tonight and the game is competitive. If they bring the D like they did last night it could be interesting.

How do you give a team opening up a new arena a back to back vs the spurs. Mind boggling

And another game on Saturday then right off to the east coast starting in Atlanta with 1 day in between. :banghead:

However if they get through it, it could be something you build an entire season on.

I suspect the bench won't put up the same kind of numbers tonight. I'm interested in seeing how Joerger and the players respond

I don't think we're going to lose as bad as the Warriors did, because we aren't as soft as they are.

And we shouldn't get killed on the glass either.

James Ham just made an excellent observation: the fact we are discussing two teams who "might" play two bigs most of the game says a lot about where the league is right now.
