this game might just get ugly..we suck defending the pick n roll and the clips are one of the best teams that does it... hope cuz and rudy play well just to increase their value more on a national televised game...

We will do better at pick and roll defense if McLemore and Cauley-Stein don't play.

OK Dave, are we going to see what sticks or stick to what we see?

Oddly enough Willie is probably the lone C on the team that can play pick and roll defense the way Jeorger wants them to. He can show out and recover almost every time.

Sure, he has the speed, but he doesn't use it to go to the right spots, because he doesn't know where they are. The result is that passing lanes open up for the other team. Then everyone has to take an extra step away from their assignment and then be a step late getting back. Meanwhile the other team gets open shot after open shot.

Actually, and I'm not a huge fan of it, that's the design of the pick and roll defense Joerger is playing right now. Or at least the one he wants to. Hedge out and run middle, then play off the corners to help in the paint during, and teams are getting a ton of open looks as a result. It's also why Joerger really needs to play smaller because he is expecting guys to run back out at shooters and the starting bigs just can't do it. Willie has been more than solid from what I've seen when playing his part. Chuck Hayes was great in the same set and Willie is very conscious about making sure to to take away the other the top pass while going back to his man just like Hayes was in Houston. Now he will tend to get lost during other defensive sets that I've seen, but so has everybody else. The team has been losing so it's gone unnoticed but I think Willie has played pretty well on both ends as of late. I guess it all depends on expectation level as well.
