Fox or Jackson?

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Mon Jun 19, 2017 3:26 am

I know there is a draft thread, but I was interested in seeing specific discussion related to this possibility.

I think there is a very real possibility that the first four go:

Fultz
Ball
Tatum
Isaac

In this case, who would you rather have at 5, Fox or Jackson?

Im starting to think the Kings secretly LOVE Jackson and would take him. It's possible Kings have been using Fox as smoke.

I would do anything to grab #6 and take both of them.
Well not anything but close!

Anyone who hasn't worked out here makes me a bit nervous. Especially if they fell in the draft.

But if this happened I'd take Jackson.

Hope to grab Frank at 10 or DSJ, 10 would the the hard to do pick if both of them are gone.

There's an unwritten rule about Kansas draft picks here in town though.

Could it be possible?
Go to Portland and trade 34 for 15/26/Leonard (if they don't do 15 then 20)

Then
10/15 (or 20&26)/Richardson
For
6

Fox @5/Galloway
Hield/Bogdanovic
Jackson @6/Temple
Skal/Rabb @ 26
WCS/Leonard/Papa
What needs to be added to the Magic?

In that Portland trade you'll probably need to change it from Leonard to Turner.

They would be able to choose whoever they want if it means we end up with both Fox and Jackson.
Do you think the Magic are in the position where they would like to add a number of young players instead of drafting say Fox?
They would prefer Jackson so he would be the pick at 5.

I'd take ball over both of them if he somehow drops, otherwise Jackson and take a pg at 10

Orlando would probably want a PG at 10 and I doubt they are interested in Fox after Elfrid failed.

I can't see Orlando doing it with a new FO, but if you took Jackson at 5, I don't think they'd take Fox...the last thing they need is another poor shooter...I know Jackson is scary as a shooter too but not as scary as Fox. Plus Fox duplicates Payton...they seem like the same player almost.

I think Orlando might take someone else.

I CAN see Minnesota possibly trading 7 for WCS though since Thibs wants defense.

If we came out of the draft with Jackson, Fox, and Bell...WOW! I'd prefer doing Blazer trade and offering 10/15 for 7 (Fox). WCS and Fox are friends and the youth, height, athleticism, and defensive potential of a lineup of Fox/Hield/Jackson/Labissiere/Cauley-Stein would be great.

One can dream.

Back to reality...I'd take Fox over Jackson with differentiator being his personality and "clean record".

Morris twins >> TRob/Ben Mac

Although I think if Ben finds the right team he'll be a good NBA scorer.

Jackson did work out in Sacramento though. If the choice was between Fox and Jackson at 5, I'd probably take Jackson as well even though I've been a huge Fox fan all year. A wing combo of Hield/Jackson would be real nice. There would likely be no PGs left at 10 though, it looks like DSJ and Nkilitina will be both be gone by then so if that were the case, I'd probably look to trade down for 15+20 or 26.

Interesting question. On the one hand the Kings *really* need a PG and there aren't any good ones in the 2018 draft (at least that's what it looks like). On the other hand, if you take Jackson that leaves 3 PGs on the board (Fox, DSJ, Ntilikina) on the board for picks 6-10. It makes me wonder if the Kings could then try to trade up to 6-8 from 10 in exchange for, well, something and secure Jackson at 5 and then Fox, DSJ, or Ntilikina at the acquired pick.

All that said, I'd rather go with the bird in the hand strategy and take Fox. Jackson scares me on too many levels.

To land Jackson and Fox/DSJ without giving up any future firsts would be absolutely epic.
