WOW- What a draft

Post#1 » by FreeSpiritNY » Sat Jun 24, 2017 5:57 am

Knicks fan here who comes in peace.

Let me just say that I think you guys did an amazing job at the draft. Definitely won the draft.

You have D'aron Fox who will be like possibly a superstar who can replace cousins.
Frank Mason who will be like an isaiah thomas
Justin Jackson has 3&D star potential
Harry Giles- If he stays healthy damm amazing..

I think vlade has done the right thing and its coming to fruition after the cousins trade in such short of time.

Do you guys think Harry Giles will stay healthy?

I wanted to come over to say the same thing - the Kings are killing it, subverting their reputation and looking really bright for a rebuild.

All picks this draft maximized value whilst addressing clear needs.

I assume you mean like our next franchise player? De'Aaron has a much better attitude than DMC thankfully.

The Kings supposedly found no major issues with his medicals and the Kings training staff has a plan in place for his development. If he ever regained the promise and mobility he showed in high school then it would be a terrific story.

Yes, exactly what I meant. You guys are a lot nicer than my very own knick fans. Ill be rooting for you guys this year.

De'Aaron fox is a million times better attitude wise than cousins will ever be.

It's nice hearing fans of other teams giving compliments about the Kings. It's been so long since we weren't the butt of every joke.

Kings are going to regret taking jackson (wtf?) and giles (another big?) over monk.

He'd be nice insurance if fox or hield dont pan out or a great third guard if they both do.

And thats all assuming he doesnt end up being awesome himself

I was mad, but nothing we can do about passing on Monk.

Taking Monk would have made no sense whatsoever, we already have a slightly undersized shooting guard in Buddy, why would we want another one....especially when we desperately needed a small forward and another big man.

SAC had a great draft
Even though I think Monk is a fine player, the team is so Guard heavy I wonder how the team splits minutes even without Monk. (Heild/ Bogdanovic/ Richardson/ McLemore?/ Fox/ Mason/ Collison?

The team needed a SF so I cant knock the Jackson pick. Giles is a late flier. Who knows. I remember Dejuan Blair had knee issues and he had some good years with the Spurs. Its stacked against him but who knows???

The team has good young talent and a ton of cap space. Even though SAC isn't a prime spot for FA, Divac can acquire major picks if teams want to dump players

So what are people's thoughts on Giles now? Was it a wasted pick are does he need a little time?

I think some time in the G League will be good to help build back some confidence. Prior to summer league and preseason he hadn't had any meaningful game experience in almost 2-3 years. His time at Duke didn't do him much good since he wasn't completely healthy and should have redshirted. He's skilled but needs to get acclimated to game speed again and put on some weight so he's not tossed around down low.
