Rate our roster
Well people. What a turnaround its been. We went from Cousins and scrubs to 10 young guys with potential. Not saying we are close to anything yet and many of these guys may not even pan out but as a fan of this team my whole life, i'm definitely excited.
With all that being said rate our guys in terms of how you value them, I'm excluding the vets. Ill go first.
Fox
Hield
Skal
WCS
Jackson
Bogdan
Giles
Papa
Richardson
Mason
I've also separated them into tiers. For instance I don't have Fox/Hield/Skal to far apart. I see the gap between Skal/WCS being further than the gap between Skal/Hield. Make sense?
Id like to hear what you all think.

I think you have just about nailed it. Personally I would have Richardson I little higher, probably where Giles is.

Little surprised by your list, Mason above Papa? Bogdan above Willie? Are you extra high on Mason and Bogdan or low on Willie and Papa?

Ya i want to place Richardson higher. After what we saw from him last year he looked awesome. I wish he would keep it going. I'm scared he doesn't get as much opportunity next year if Bogdan comes. I'm worried if Temple/Hield/Bogdan/Jackson take all the minutes. His hammy screwed him last year.

I'm high on pretty much everyone on the list to a certain degree but I do like Bogdan and Frank Masons chances since right now they will probably have prominent roles assuming they sign in Bogdans case and Mason gets that backup PG slot and doesn't spend most of the year in the D-league. Papa and Giles play a position that has IMO two better options right now in Willie and Skal so I think their value is a bit lower for the team. If it's all based on pure potential you'd probably have to put Giles way up high, but I think he takes it slow to start. Papa is the same. I expect him to continue to have a rotation role, but lower minutes than Skal and Willie initially so that would effect value as well.

Although it may not be the key metric, how many wins this season..25? Less maybe? Depends a little on FA's signed, but youth will get a ton of time.

Giles needs a fair look at summer league for me. Not sure on his value per health concern.

Said he is 100% healthy today and is moving with no pain.

Re: Rate our roster
My list and why. No one on the Kings is approaching all star status at this point:
Fox - elite speed and quickness. Can he shoot well enough to use it.
Hield - can he shoot with the same percentage as he did at the end of the season. Teams were tanking. Can he do it when it matters. Can he improve his handle.
Bogdan- just a year older than buddy. Great length. Guarded the other teams best player. Can he get his shot off in NBA. Touches as high as Jackson.
Skal - needs to be a 3-4. No frame to add weight. Can he improve his handle and hit the three with consistency.
To me the three guys above are the key. Especially Skal and Bogdan. If the can progress and allow the Kings to swing them 3-4 and 2-3 depending on matchups.
Jackson - average athlete and length for his position. Not able to swing to 4 or 2. Needs to show he can get shot off
Giles - who knows with his knees. At one point would be up with Fox.
Willie - at 66% free throw shooting and no threes WCS is pretty limited offensively and hasn't improved much. And with just 5 boards per game doesn't do much there either and again showed no improvement from year 1 to 2. Ultimately think he is a back-up 4.
Mason- like his heart and fact he improved each year. If can shoot 50% from 3 could pair nicely with Bogdan off the ball. Tough playing D against bigger guards.
Papa - 85% free throw shooting and 4 boards a game in limited minutes is encouraging. Big Body who sets great screens. Athleticism a question.
Fox - elite speed and quickness. Can he shoot well enough to use it.
Hield - can he shoot with the same percentage as he did at the end of the season. Teams were tanking. Can he do it when it matters. Can he improve his handle.

I'd put his potential against anyone, but this was a question of value. It's hard to value a project player higher than players that will most likely have a bigger role than him.

Not at all. He's a big part of the reason many fans completely trust Vlade and his draft team now. He and Peja made plenty of us look like fools with how good all the young guys looked.

Papa has room to improve but he's already got unique physical tools for his size and we all can't wait until he starts showing the skill he's shown in bits and pieces on a consistent basis. I think the most upside he has is as a defender. His foot speed and mobility will hopefully be a calling card on that end.

Yeah and his free throw shooting indicates he could become a decent pick and pop type player.
But he isn't a guy with elite athleticism or a guy you can swing between 4-5. Those factors make him a little less potentially valuable. But for all we know now he could be the only guy that develops.

Well, wish you guys all the Luck.. You surely have constructed a very very nice young team over there.. Most of your picks were spot on and with a couple more additions and a season or two to mature together, this team can become really special.

Re: Rate our roster
The scary thing with this team is a lot of the optimism is centered around Skal showing those same flashes he showed in a handful of games, over the course of an entire season. The sample size of him being production in anything post high school is so small. It's not a popular opinion but i see him not reaching the lofty expectations that have been put on him (at least not next year). I'd love to see him become a star but it's really a crapshoot.
On the other hand with so much put on Skal and Buddy and the lofty expectations for the rookie class, I see Willie flying a bit under the radar this year. i can see him averaging 15 & 8 next year. I think we can all agree his offense is probably ahead of where we all thought it would be at this point. Of course his defense has been a bit of a disappointment since joining the Kings. It's a big year for him because Giles will most likely be ready to contribute in the 2018-19 season and there are a ton of centers who we could draft in the lottery next year.
