Backup pg. I am as down as anybody to roll with two young point guards. Everyone else seems OK with bringing Collison back. Bringing in Beverly to help fox become the same type of defender as him

What about Beverly makes you want to pass? Contract? Fit? Again, I am all for rolling with the young guys but we need to bring in players that can help the young guys.

No thank you. Call me crazy but I would rather have no veterans at all, I don't want them to take away any playing time from our young guys, we have a veteran coach, that should be enough.

*Beverly was in the playoffs

*He's in his prime, turns 29 in two weeks. Too old for our window, too young to ease off the gas and become a mentor

*He's regarded as one of the best defenders at his position in the league

*He chose Houston over Sacramento.

Why on earth would Beverley, at this point in his career, want to be a back up PG on the youngest team in the league? That's not his mindset, that's not the kind of addition the Kings need to make. Use summer league as a gauge and if you feel a vet PG is needed in I'm sure one will be available in FA late july.

I actually think in order to develop players effectively, you need vets. Otherwise, you're just feeding the rookies to the wolves. Many of these players aren't even in their 20's yet.

We're not going to win many games next year. That's expected. As a result, all those losses are going to fall squarely on the shoulders of our youth. While I get that they will benefit from the extra playing time, we've been on the loss treadmill for so long that we know what loosing looks like and how it can spoil the culture that you're trying to build. A culture of loosing breeds a loosing culture. We're trying to shake that. Therefore I don't want to spoil our rookies by subjecting them to a loosing season.

I'd prefer to add quality vets that understand their role to keep the team and games competitive and pass on a culture of "winning" (read "competing") to the youth. The Anthony Tolliver and Garrett Temple mold of vets would be ideal. Being the vets, they could shoulder most of the psycological burden of losses so the rookies would be mentally ready to take over when their time comes. This gives the rookies an opportunity to mature for a year in the NBA, with a reasonable buffer from the harsh realities of their new profession. Then by the 18-19 season, they'll be more ready to take over both physically and mentally.

If we are trying to make the POs yes, if we are continuing the rebuild then stay away from him. Simple as that for me

Everyone here who is saying that we should just throw thes kids out here to the wolves, I feel that you have never really played competitive basketball.

First off, you get them into a mindset of losing rather than winning. Right out of the gate and that is hard to break.
Second, tell me the last time you sa a young team with no veteran leadership grow into a playoff contender and you'll be showing the first time. I'm all good if they work hard and get beat out by better squads that have more experience. But it is counterproductive to just let them take an ass whipping night after night.

Third, there is no substitute for winning experience and playoffs. I don't personally give a care if they sign two or three good players with the cap space and the team works hard and makes the eighth seed (which btw was .500 last season) and gets swept by the Warriors. That is still good experience.

The arguments of get a good draft pick next year and such are pointless. It's a lottery. You don't know that that does you any good and I'm pretty sure that we can easily sit and try doing that for ten years running and STILL not get that GOAT one guy. But now we have built strength and depth at EVERY position. We are trying to be the Spurs, not a one year wonder but a twenty year dynasty. We need to be constantly doing whatever is needed to maximize the output of each seasons roster, not keep hoping for a few more years forever.

That's all correct but Beverly is not a vet. He's nearly his prime and so has absolutely no motivation playing for the team like Kings at the moment.
And second, winning is the goal but in the future, while next season our goal is to add at least one more top talent from 2018 draft before we can switch to wining mod because of 2019 pick absence.

Are you really equating someone's opinion on how they think the Kings should go about it with what sort of basketball experience they've had?
This mindset of losing rather than winning? Any coaching group worth their salt would ensure they, along with the playing group, along with the other departments are on the same page and have a plan mapped out.
Joerger is that kind of coach that will keep these guys working, ticking off goals, not looking at the standings and only measuring success by the W/L column. Yes winning is important, however what's more important is to have these young guys play a large role collectively in what the Kings do.
Your second point, we do have veteran leadership in Temple/Koufas and they will both have large roles on the court. Personally I would have kept Tolliver around and i think the third vet is the number we should be at, I just thought he was a good fit all around.
If Bogdanovic signs he has significant experience, yes he has to get used to the NBA game etc, but he can handle significant minutes straight away and as mentioned he is experienced.
Your third point I absolutely agree with. Any sort of playoff experience any team can get is huge.
I'm not 100% behind tanking the season, I actually think we have the guts of a special team, just got to put the time into these guys.
I'm just more in the boat of if we aren't good I'm happy as long as the coaching staff are teaching the right things and the players are improving.
