Hey there, Kings fans! Just have a general question regarding your PF situation, since I don't fully know the mindset behind the Kings plans to contend/rebuild, etc.

This is completely hypothetical, but if Randolph receives the OJ Mayo treatment and is banned from the league, I believe his contract comes off the books completely (those with more CBA knowledge, feel free to correct me). This would leave you short on PFs, but Randolph's contract being voided would also leave you with roughly $16.5M in cap room and actually place you roughly $2.5M below the salary floor, I believe.

In keeping with the Rocket's hope to acquire Carmelo Anthony, which all but requires moving Ryan Anderson, would Sacramento be willing to take on Anderson into Randolph's presumed rotation spot? I'm guessing Skal is the presumptive starter at PF, but would Anderson fit in as the backup? I know Giles was drafted this year, but the signing of Randolph in the first place would seem to signal they're not ready for him to be in the rotation for now.

I know no team would take on Anderson without compensation, so if the Kings would be amenable to taking Anderson, how much would it cost us? It would also require sending out at least one contract from your end. Something like:

SAC out: Garrett Temple
SAC In: Ryan Anderson, 2020 Houston 1st (first we're eligible to trade), rights to Isaiah Hartenstein (our second rounder this year)

I chose Temple because with Hield and newly-signed Bogdanovic and VC, he would seem to be the odd man out of the rotation. (This would just be a portion of a trade with NYK; I don't think Houston would want Temple, so he would go to New York in this scenario)

The difference between Anderson's contract for the first 2 years and the combination of Randolph and Temple is only $99 dollars, so the big difference would simply be absorbing that third year.

So just let me know your thoughts on Anderson and/or what it would take for Sacramento to absorb his contract.

And good luck this season! I'm a big fan of Hield after watching him for 4 years in Big 12 play, so I truly hope he thrives in Sacramento.

There was talk in the summer that the Kings were approached with an Anderson deal to which even they said no. I'm not sure of the validity of the source but it was one of the major papers/sites that reported it I think. I don't know how the Randolph situation factored into it, but I wouldn't think him coming off the books would change their stance on Anderson. I do like Hartenstein as a prospect though.

You don't know what it was that made them say no in the first place.

How Randolph's situation would factor into Anderson would be the money and space on the roster at PF for a vet.

I think this is a viable deal but it still stings. If Zach is bounced I'd rather give JaMychal Green the 13-14mil a yr for those 3yrs then give Anderson 20mil a yr, so if I were Vlade I'd say no.

Anderson's contract is too big and too long for only 20's 1st rounder. And I don't like trading out Temple. He's the core of our locker room.
I'd prefer to sign vet PF for minimum and to listen some offers about our cape space nearly deadline.

Not against getting Ryan A to replace Zbo if it's necessary. Having a PF to spread the floor would be nice next to players who penetrate like Fox. So there's a definite upside to this scenario.

Downside, that Ryan A contract. He's definitely getting paid above his weight class. That and the idea of loosing Temple makes this deal a bit hard to digest. I'd move on from one of our promising rookies because Temple is more of a known quantity in what he brings the team in character and stability. For us, that is more valuable than Ryan A's talent, considering how little of either we've had in the last decade.

I don't think we would do the original deal, maybe if we could get something else I would do it.
As it stands that 1st rounder isn't much at all so there needs to be something else, either another late 1st rounder or early 2nd. The way I see it, one 1st for taking on the contract and another for losing our locker room leader.
If that doesn't suit then we would still have 2 good routes to take.
Make an offer on Green like 3/36 with PO or keep the cap space for the deadline and sign whatever vet PF is left over for the min that can soak up 12-15 mins per game.

I think the Kings aren't looking to tie up any 2019 money considering the structure of the deals they worked out. If they went after anyone at this point, which I don't personally think Randolph is going anywhere, but if they did it would probably be an overpay on a 2 year deal.

Yeah that sounds about right actually good call. Having said that it's what I would offer and move on if that's the case (being matched) as I would only want him as a value contract that could easily be moved or attached to Hill for a star.

Anderson has no value to us whatsoever. The guy doesn't fit our timeline nor the style of team we are building. His 3rd year is a complete deal breaker as that is the year we need to begin resigning guys and starting to actually compete. Anderson for 20 million would kill us.

Also if that wasn't enough, after Anderson burned us last year to pick Houston I see no way that bridge can be filled. Sac town kid did his city dirty, he would have fit perfectly with Cousins.

Good luck finding a home Ryan, that being said it certainly wont be here.

We are just talking about the what if scenario of Randolph getting charged.
