Looking up and down the Kings roster, it's hard to not see the trend. We have roughly 2 player at each position, who are 25 and under.
PG - Fox 20, Mason 23
SG - Hield 24, BB 25
SF - Jackson 22, Bruno 22, Sampson 24
PF - Skal 21, Giles 19
C - WCS 24
I love the gamble of adding Bruno to the mix. His upside is scary and with floor generals like BB, Fox and Mason he could really step out and succeed. He is a RFA next year which means two things IMO. One, we have already scouted him and have a good idea and plan for how we wanna attack his continued development. Two, we can test him with roughly 15-20 mins a game to start and let him get comfortable back in the NBA (he has been in the Dleague for a stretch). Even if he looks great he likely won't draw a large offer sheet and even if he does we'll have the money to match, (hopefully).
Giles likewise has a high ceiling and can be special. We are rightly taking our time to develop his body and his game and we have the time.
We like what we see from WCS and Skal. Both have been good in stretches but are still developing and under our control for at least 2 more year before RFA.
Our back court is pretty much set with Fox and Mason at PG and Hield and BB at SG. All are young, skilled and under our control.
Of the vets we have on the roster, none are guaranteed any money past next year and only Z-Bo is locked in for 2018. Kosta, Temple and Shump all have player options next year and the team can simply let them know in the off-season that we plan to go young and they can mentor or kick rocks. I expect Joe Johnson to be bought out shortly. I think(hope) that VC is gonna transition into coaching next year. If we can keep him around this young squad in that role, I'll be very pleased.
Throw in what is likely to be a top 5 pick in the draft this year and we have the makings of a team full of talent that we can develop and grow together. We are betting that 2-3 of these guys goes from potential to greatness and we can be a team in contention again and I, for one, would wager in our favor.
The key will be development.
Is this how you see the future picture of the Kings?

Wait, I've heard that one before... Yes, about Papagiannis

Yup and we could be wrong and he could flop as well. It's a gamble.
They knew what they had in Papa and chose to dump him. We aren't alone. I predict that less than 20 players from that draft of 60 will play more than 3 years in the league.

Hopefully Caboclo shows he can do SOMETHING an NBA level.
Other than hitting threes at a decent clip, his offense is very bad. He's only 22, but in four seasons in the NBA he has barely improved on it any.

Not expecting much from Bruno considering his numbers in the G league. Hoping we get a chance at Porter or Doncic in the draft to solidify the SF spot.

Hopefully they play Bruno significant minutes, will be a RFA so if it looks like he has a chance in the league we can probably hold on to him cheap.
Be a shame if he gets here and never plays.

Completely agree other than I have Sampson as a big instead of a 3.
Id love to give Bruno minutes if nothing more than to see what it would look like having a large wing playing with Fox and Bogdan!
I think Vlade has a plan and I love that hes willing to accept mistakes that he has made, though as I and many others have mentioned the 2016 draft was straight trash and grabbing Skal/Bogdan seems like a blessing.
If we can add in Porter id be pretty excited for what the future holds.

Finally I'm seeing some optimism. I'm tired of hearing nonstop negativity and insults. I am happy with our direction and our young players, and I'm excited about us adding a top pick in the draft that has a good chance of becoming a superstar. I'm also happy that we have great character guys who are actual good people on our team. That's very important to me. Look at teams like the Suns who have tons of bad attitude players with a history of problems and stupidity, such as Marquese Chriss, Dragan Bender, Josh Jackson, and many others to a lesser extent.
Maybe I'm alone, but I'd rather have a team full of great people who get along and are working hard to get better than a team full of problems, fighting and negativity, no matter how many wins they get. People complained about the culture of the team for so long and don't even give any recognition when we have an excellent team culture now.

Well, impressions from the presser is that the moves were exactly what we thought. They were meant to give our young core more PT and give the team more financial flexibility. Joe will get his buyout.
I like Williams. Seems savvy and focused. He and Vlade presented a united front. He plays well off Vlade's on camera persona as the measured and insightful professional.

Amen. I'll believe it when I see it. The damage was done, now time to move onto something beneficial.

The continuing negativity will either be fed or abolished depending on how things are handled on the court. No doubt, the first chunk of this season was a damaging one. And Hill was a good guy, but there was obviously some negativity there so that will ease some of that I would hope. Now it's just up to Joerger to not screw it up. When weighing what he's done up to this point with what many said his issues were in Memphis that may have led to his departure there all I can say is it will be interesting. And either redeeming or damning.

Good post.
We will find out what the plan is with Bruno fairly quickly. Other than that the guards along with Skal and WCS will play some amazing games down the stretch. Just hope Joerger switches to more of a PnR game with Fox/WCS and Bogi/WCS. Both will flourish and with Hield and possibly Bruno waiting on the wings it would make for a dangerous offence.

I picture you with a never ending amount of water on your cornflakes.
We get it. There is no need for your negative Nancy view and same broken record to populate every trend haha.
(This is all said in a joking manner btw...in case the mods feel like over reacting again.)

i know this is supposed to be a positive thread but this is one of the darker days as a king fan in some time. I see the list of young players on our roster you guys are talking about and honestly 1 maybe 2 of them seem like NBA starters in a few years and i wouldn't be shocked if 3 of them are out the league altogether in the next few years.
George Hill was supposed to signal something big for us as a high-priced free agent who actually CHOSE the Kings...and we have him for 3.5 months, he mopes around and seems miserable, and then we lose him for nothing??! We lose 2 of our 2016 draft picks for virtually nothing?! After a summer where we saw Scott Perry leave for nothing?? A lot of people talking about us doing the right thing these days and a new perception of the team....If a free agent this summer asks George Hill about his time in Sac what do you think he's gonna say??!
The draft seems like our only chance and for a team that's not gonna attract big name free agents for a bunch of reasons you can't miss year after year in the draft...the Kings have and it's completely sunk the franchise.
My point being...i know it's a rebuild and it takes time but i have no faith whatsoever in our front office getting this thing back on track. It's not the players fault and it's not Joerger's fault. Changes need to be made up top.

That we paid him good money and then sent him to Cleveland to play in the Finals with Lebron? Why would he have anything bad to say? He chose to come here, got paid and then we did him a solid and sent him to a contender. We got a second round pick and some cap flexibility for Hill not nothing (though it can be debated if we should have even signed him in the first place but that's a different discussion) and we also got a second round pick for Scott Perry who isn't even a player so we did get something. We got like 5 million in cash from those trades yesterday too which is not worthless in the slightest.

This is one of the darker days? We were born in the darkness!
Being ride or die since 85 I've seen, felt, and experienced much worse. I actually feel a sense of new hope since we traded Cuz. Being a below average middling team clawing for the 8th seed every year, getting the 7th or 8th pick every year has no appeal to me. At least now we have direction, go young and let them grow.
Patience my friend!

He's already had a couple of comments he's said publicly about this not being what he expected. He never looked or sounded happy in his time here and his play reflected that as well. I doubt he'd give a ringing endorsement to anyone about Sacramento. Perception-wise i don't think it's a great thing when big name kings signees at best look at their time here as a 3-4 month stepping stone to get on a winning team come the trade deadline.

Everything he had to say was based around on court performance though, there was never any indication he was unhappy with the front office. Those comments also came during the time he was playing like hot garbage. Go back and watch old Indiana clips or San Antonio clips, he's a stoic guy, he's not going to be smiling ear to ear to show you he's happy.
I just struggle to see how Hill could possibly have anything bad to say about his time here. That we sold him on the idea of fighting for the playoffs with 9 rookie scale players, 40 year old VC and old vets in Zbo, Temple and Koufos and that it surprisingly didn't go according to plan? I highly doubt that's the case and if it is that's more of an indictment on Hill's decision making than our front offices.
Plenty of other things you can bash Vlade and the front office for but the treatment of Hill is just not one of them.
