So is it a new day and new direction? Or more of the same?

Vlade said the young core will go from playing 22 mpg to 30+mpg

But Skal is out tonight so I expect a lot of Zbo and KK tonight.

In a perfect world it hits the ground running but those that don't fit can build some sort of value if they can increase their production which could make future moves more appetizing. Also, if there are still system issues those will also become overwhelmingly clear so that's another positive.

One thing I can't complain about Vlade is his willingness to correct a mistake. Hopefully they fix the right ones from here on.

I don't believe they were concerned with value. Sounds like building a foundation of knowledge for the young players was objective #1. You cant worry about resale value all the time.

We all knew there was no way the Kings could keep all of these young players. Just imagine how many minutes Buddy and Bogi would have lost with the only purpose of maybe getting a late 1st for Malachi? Its dumb cut your losses and continue to build.

Exactly.

It's not a perfect world. It's easy to say we can play toe young guys, the fringe guys and the vets the right amount and everyone will reach their goals but a lot harder to do when you have to runs a system, matchup with other teams at times, develop rookies, deal with injuries and fatigue.

There is no problem with that, but there is nothing inhibiting you from doing both. It's absolutely crucial when building through the draft that you either maintain value or build value and the Kings run at the top of the draft over the last decade is a prime example of that.

Sure, but how would have replacing some of Zbo's minutes, or Temples minutes drastically altered the Kings as opposed to where they sit now? It's a hypothetical obviously but the results are what they are. In the summer being able to dump someone like Papa G and getting that extra couple of million off your books might have helped quite a bit. Hopefully it's not needed, we'll see how it turns out.

If keeping Papa's value high was the goal then yes cutting Zbo's minuted the first half of the season would have made sense.

But today explained why that didnt happen.

I'm cool with it... Too many young players they needed to cut the bad one(s) loose.

And it doesn't make it any more beneficial to the team moving forward. Cutting loose young players isn't what you want to do, you want to be able to at the very least remove their number from your cap. The Kings didn't even do that with Papa.

I like how when Kayte was talking about waiving Papa she said "kings view Giles, Skal, and WCS as the core big men, all fit, athletic and able to run with mason, fox, and Bogdan".

Papa was trash, he's never going to be a good player. He's slow, stupid, and looks lost all the time. I loved the flashes we saw from Malachi but he doesn't seem like a high iq player, more like a get hot or cold go 1 on 1 player. Glad we made our decisions early instead of investing 4 years to watch these guys do nothing.

Don't you think we at least tried?

Nobody wanted the guy. I'll be surprised if anyone picks him up, and if they do I'll be shocked if he's not in Europe next year.

They tried.

Sam Amick is one reporter in particular that said the Kings have made both Richardson and Papa available.

I doubt they asked for anything in return especially when looking at what they got for Richardson.

I commend Vlade for making the move. The only thing Papa would have done moving forward is take up Coaches time and occupy a roster spot.

Now if Papa was the only pick from 2016 then I would be pissed.

If you have 11 of them it's not that big a deal. But keep harping on it. You're changing hearts and minds/

I think Collins is going to a player that gets into quite a bit of fights in his career. He's a bit dirty. He might be a Laimbeer on the punchability scale.

Take a gander on the GB, there is no changing minds about it to begin with. The battle was already lost.
