Grizzlies rolling out a tanking lineup, while we try to win...

I respect the ethical reasoning behind not tanking. I hope Silver cleans up the resting issue once and for all, and I support lottery changes nullifying the advantages of tanking. BUT while the game of tanking exists, I have a problem taking the high ground when it lines you up at a statistical disadvantage to your tanking opponents. As a GM your job should not be allowing disadvantage IMO.

I hope we are repaid for our intentions by fate tonight and the rest of the season

This game has the feel of a late preseason game.

You wonder how much the commissioner actually hates tanking. It almost inspires fan interest watching your team try to play bad enough to earn ping pong balls vs a completely meaningless late season game where the games result would have no direct impact on draft placement. Imagine if every lotto team had equal lottery odds...why on earth would you watch this Kings-Grizzlies game..even if the best players were playing?

This is what infuriates me...why wouldn't Joerger just pull all of our starters right now. The core of our team is somehow playing bad enough to lose our second game in a row vs a dreadful team that's actively trying to tank. Either we win by 5 or 6 vs a team we should beat by 50 or we suffer an embarassing loss. What an awful way to get into the offseason. Is it really worth it??

It seems to be WCS playing big in these games too, who has as much future on this team as Randolph IMO

That is interesting to think about. The possibility that reworking the odds would have negative effects on the game viewing and attendance even more than two bad teams playing makes you think there is no solution.

I'm completely spit balling so don't trash me here but what about a weighted rookie cap like the nfl has except the cap would be on the team not the draft slot and the drafted player got offer sheets from teams and had to take one of the top 3 offer sheets he got.

So say Phx, Mem and Atl finish 1,2,3. They are allotted 18, 16.5, and 15mil and so on going down the line according to season record.

Teams can sign enough players as picks they have still and can use the money in their cap however they want in their offers. Meaning they can offer one player 15mil and another 1mil as long as they have the rookie cap space and if they have 2 picks and the players accept then they have a deal.

The player has to take one of the top 3 offer sheets presented and there should be a time element to it to like it's a 3 day period to present offer sheets and another 2 days for rookies to make decisions.

If teams still have picks and player are still left after the 5 days then it goes to a straight record ordered selection meaning if 4 teams have a pick left they select in the reverse order of finish record and pay with the remaining money in their rookie cap with a league min and max salary guarannteed for the players like 1.5mil or something.

Midway thru the 3rd quarter Grant says "Ben has not scored in this game"

Gave me flashbacks.

It’s why we drafted Stauskas a year later. You don’t recover from the level of bad he was as a rookie. Just like it’s hard for me to see Monk ever becoming anything of substance

True. I as a Suns fan would not be on this board or following the game on Gamecast. Nor would our entire board.

Exactly...lottery jockeying is really the only incentive any fan has for watching these sort of games. As much of a fan favorite as he is you can't say any Grizzly fan would tune in game 80 of the season to see Marc Gasol mash down low for a 20 win team on a friday night.
