Giles just got subbed out. He slapped everyone's hand and noticeably pulled back when he came to bjelica. I wonder what the hell is up there

It sure is nice to see all other rookies starting and putting up good numbers who were picked before and after Bagley in the lottery.....

I liked Mason's defense tonight.

With the way Joerger mixes up his lineups +/- almost means nothing. He keeps pulling Buddy and subs him back in with the benchers or pulls out a starter as the other team goes on a run, then puts them back in once things have stabilized. I'm starting to get full on pissed that we never see the most talented players out there together. He pulls Buddy, puts in Bogdan, pulls Bogdan puts in Mason, and at the end of this one we watched him ride the backs of Williams and Shumpert as the other team snickered with their hands down on defense. :banghead:

Specific to tonight only, Williams in at the end of the game was questionable. Even though Buddy wasn't doing real well or anything we needed to score. Put him back in there, if anything he opens up the floor more for Fox to penetrate.

It took two possessions to see Bjelica was outclassed tonight. Not sure why he kept him on JJJ so long.

He made an adjustment with Mason and pressuring the ball, it paid some serious dividends there in the second. Memphis countered by putting in Mack with Conley. I'd of liked to see us counter with maybe Yogi + Mason and keep the pressure on.

I'm starting to wonder if we may be better off starting Bagley on athletic 4's in a sort of platoon it format with Bjelica on who starts.

Also I think Bogdan, Mason, Bjelica off the bench together may be pretty potent together. A lot of facilitation there to mask Kosta, or give Giles some room inside if he rolls to the basket after a screen.

I guess Bagley needs to step up his outside shot a bit more in order to start for now.

But that was embarrassing tonight keeping Bjelica in so stubbornly on JJJ.

Yep, learning to play against teams that go slow ball will be tough to watch - but thinking they will get there.

And yes, a quick substitution of Bagley for Bjelica or putting rotating WCS and Bjelica at C would have been a wiser move. Our coach is in a learning process too...

I would add that this was a close game - we just turned the ball over more and they took 5 extra shots.

Spot on here.

I dunno why Bodgan and Buddy weren't both in the game to end it. Also would be good to give Yogi some run especially when we are stagnating. We played too much to Memphis's pace never pushing the ball.

Bjelica should be moved to the bench sooner or later. He gets victimized too often by starting forwards (e.g. Siakam and Jackson).

Jackson looks really good. I was salty about the Bagley pick from the first second it was made and this season isn't really changing my view. Sadly, Doncic would be a pretty perfect starting 4 on this team. I'm betting Jackson wouldn't look so comfortable if he was forced to guard a ball-handler on the three point line all game. At least this team is so fun to watch its a nice distraction from not taking Luka.

Vlade isn't getting fired even if Bagley doesn't look like a #2 pick. Fox looks like a future star, Willie is having a breakout season, Hield is a quality starting 2 and Bogdan is legit. These are all guys picked or acquired by Vlade. Bjelica signing doesn't happen without Vlade.

My concern is it took him about a year too long to finally stop running into the same brick wall with his offensive system.

He’s not looking remotely like a 2 pick now

Hield was part of a trade that was panned for not getting more (and I’m a big Hield guy)

WCS still is arguably good. He doesn’t interior defend/rebound

Fox isn’t going to make him survive. He was consensus, and that was the only good play out years

Bagley is only 19. We really don't know how good he'll be but it doesn't look like he's gonna be a bust.

It doesn't really matter how the Cousins trade was viewed when it went down. Many claimed it was one of the worst trades ever which now looks ridiculous. The bottom line is the trade worked out for the Kings and Hield is looking like a long term quality SG.

There's no arguably good with Willie. He's definitely a net positive. This team plays better when he's on the court. Willie obviously isn't a traditional defensive big but he does bring a lot to the table. Extremely mobile rim running bigs with some shooting range, above average passing and the ability to switch on defense and defend the pick and roll are pretty valuable.

Fox was generally considered a top pick but Vlade still had to pick him and there's no top 5 pick without the Cousins trade.

Hence his flat forehead :D - I feel you. I could be wrong, but I think he is a bit out of his element with this group - lightning fast and young. But I have to give him some credit, he seems to be adjusting.

But violent agreement - he hasn't figured this out yet - and he seems pretty slow to adjust.
