Kings interested in Porter

Post#1 » by LightTheBeam » Sat Dec 1, 2018 12:18 am

I'm all for it as long as Fox, Bogdan, Buddy, Giles, and Bagley are off the table. I don't think theres anyway we trade Fox or Bagley but i'm worried that they sell Bogdan or Buddy for what they presume as a better fit.

Id offer up Randolph with their choice of WCS/2nds or Jackson/2nds or both if its necessary. Mason could be included if they desire.

WCS defense is painful to watch. His lack of awareness and avoiding contact by all means is starting to ware on me despite his improved offense. I won't be irritated at all if hes included in the trade and Bagley starts at the 5.

What do you guys think?

hope it can get done with your list off the table, but I’m skeptical. Don’t know how bad their lux tax need is

I'm not so sure, I'd of liked to get him last year, but I have a feeling we will regret that contract.

No way would I include WCS though, be irritated to lose Mason as well.

Really like where your team is headed. I don't think you're a playoff team this year, but within a few years I expect you will be. I wouldn't take on Porter if I was you though. I personally think Stanley Johnson or OG Anunoby should be more affordable targets either via trade or free agency next off season.

I love watching WCS on offense, hes literally the perfect fit for Fox/Bogdan. That said heres where I'm at on this

1. WCS will hold Bagley back from reaching his true potential
2. Bagley needs to be starting at Center and should have more shooters on the floor
3. Bagley is already a better defender than WCS
4. WCS needs to get paid

Willie just doesn't help on defense. Its crazy, hes got the athleticism and length to lock down a paint but for some reason his help defense is non existent. Bjelica has blocked more shots than him this year.. Even Fox has more blocks than him. Its honestly mind blowing and it boils down to a lack of effort. Makes me think that in his mind if he can just average 15/8 that hes going to get paid regardless.

Mason shouldn't be playing. I like the guy but his advanced stats tell me eveything I need to know. Hes by far the biggest negative on the team. Its not his fault, hes just to small to defend current NBA players and gets blocked at the rim every game. I like how Joerger has been playing Bogdan as the backup pg it makes us a better team. I could care less if he gets moved as I actually prefer Yogi to play over him.

I highly doubt OG is attainable. Toronto really likes what he brings and understandably so.

Stanley hasnt been all that great but id take a flier for the right price. I wanted Winslow but he got resigned. Kelly Oubre is another guy id target.

Would probably have to give Bjelica or Bogdanovic to get OG, and I'm not sure that would do it or be worth it. Maybe Bjelica and Jackson for Powell and OG would get it done. Stanley will be a RFA, is 3 yrs younger than Porter, and would probably be 12-15 million year cheaper. Not the outside shooter or rebounder that Porter is, but the cost difference is considerable. I like Porter, but I wouldn't pay 26 million yr for him. Oubre is another option and like Stanley probably 12-15 million less annualy.

You are not getting OG for Bjelica come on now son. Toronto laughs you off the phone with that weakness.

Ibaka/Siakam/OG/Leonard is Toronto's key to defending GS. They aren't moving any of them unless they get a superstar back.

Wow.

I had a feeling they were making the move for Ariza to justify moving Porter to us for monetary relief with little return but now I am seriously feeling it. And I am feeling like it’s not sending them Willie either, but just absorbing Porter into our available cap combined with Zach and some filler (Skal & Mason since Yogi is suddenly back in the rotation?) and that would be a HUGE move for us.

God, I hope so. This would seriously strengthen our push for the playoffs.

At face value Brooks comments aimed at Porter are somewhat concerning.

I wouldn't rule out Ariza and Porter starting alongside each other either with Morris moving to the bench.

I wouldn't be so quick to include Willie in a Porter trade. Porter hasn't been nearly as good as last season and moving Willie would create another hole in the starting lineup. Bagley just isn't ready to be the full time starter and he definitely isn't a more valuable defender. There's more to defense than blocks and Willie is actually a plus defender. I'd rather keep Willie with a contract somewhere between Nurkic's 4/48 and Turner's 4/ 72.

We are talking Ernie Grunfeld here. Not exactly the best and brightest.

Willie at 15/per for four years I can handle. Much more than that and move him or let him walk.

Hopefully that’s a sign that Vlade has made an offer that’s been rejected and he is holding firm.
Wizards simply aren’t going to get a huge amount for him given the current climate and where everyone is at, which might just net us a bargain trade.
