It shouldn’t matter much because people have their own views. Just because a person supports a republican/conservative doesn’t mean that the opposing parties/voters should dislike/hate that person. It starts to become a mascot/“my team vs. your team” mentality that is really unhealthy. That said, if Lydon chooses to bring up conservative viewpoints in what seems like a very liberal business (NBA), then he better be prepared to debate. This is why I believe politics should never enter your workplace, family, and especially your marriage. It could encourage people to think about both sides of an issue, but it will most likely just become divisive. Just my 2 cents.

There is nada hardcore controversial about supporting the president, as evident by the post.

I understand that the base of the league has a different set of political views, but the other team members need to respect others views. It would mean other players don’t respect someone else’s views, which they need to.

As not a liberal person at all, it annoys me just as much to see Garrett Temple disrespecting non-liberals with his twitter rants, or WCS calling the president a clown, and makes me dislike them. LeBron telling people they are wrong for voting a certain way. Lydon isn’t even doing anything on that level (disrespecting others)

There isn’t anything wrong with having your opinion, just disrespecting others IMO.

-Edit, that’s how I personally feel. As a Kings fan though, I want the team to perform to max without distraction. I’d let him go if he was a distraction, but don’t see this as that, personally. I don’t see supporting Trump on the outright distraction level. I mean JJ Redick was out here making slurs and it didn’t seem to move the Sixer locker room like that

Exactly. Its crazy to me that because someone supports a different candidate than you, some immediately hate that person. I watch basketball for entertainment and to support my team, not because I give a damn what any of these guys think about our politics.

I don’t care if he is the biggest MAGA fan boy ever, as long as he performs on the court and is a good teammate I don’t care. And I’m saying this as a guy who leans left in the political spectrum.

Given the current political climate emotions are entertwined with this country's political views to a degree that it's almost impossible this won't cause some level of a problem.

People say leave politics out of the workplace but EVERYTHING is political now. Even the freaking weather! So I suppose the only option is complete silence.

I feel like everything is political because the media paints it that way. Politics only come up if you actually want to talk about them. Athletes always have the ability to deflect and change the conversation back to sports. They don’t have to get involved. So you are totally right that completely silence is THE option.

This will ONLY become a “problem” if Lydon makes it one. It’s absurd that anyone is even considering this a problem just because he supports the POTUS. It’s not like Lydon even said anything offensive or did anything wrong per se. All we know is that he supports the president. That’s it. This is a non-story.

I’m not gonna lie. I will miss him. I always thought he got a really bad rap for nothing. His game got phased out, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t good. He always played hard and was a great teammate. I will always root for the guy.

For whatever reason I thought he regressed last year. It was to the point where I was often angry with him and reticent about him being on the court, as opposed to his first couple seasons here. It felt to me, since he was out of the rotation, that he wasn’t really in game shape (which disappointed me). I understand the challenge of staying ready when your not in the rotation, but that’s part of the game

It does close the door on the Sixers chapter though, and he will probably do well in Russia

Beal for Hield plus filler? Would the Kings add anything?

I really think the continuity of chemistry with Buddy and the Kings is more valuable than Beal and his talent upgrade. Beal is currently better than Buddy. He may always be better, but I don’t think there is a big enough gap for the Kings to give more than Buddy straight up. Even then, why mess things up. The team is getting better every day with plenty of years of team control. Beal only comes with 2 years of team control. In my opinion, the risk outweighs the gain.

Good point... I was just thinking a Hield, Bjelica, Bogdanovic and Ferrell for Beal, McRae and Schofield had legs

Others may disagree with me. That was just my opinion. I think the T&T board would say the Kings would need to add value and I don’t really disagree with that either.

But the talent gap versus RFA/UFA risk isn’t that different is what makes it interesting.

I’m not feeling Beal here.

First in terms of play, with Fox/Barnes/Bagley etc, we will have enough usage etc. it’s not really a roster that needs to sacrifice shooting for better playmaking.

That’s before getting to the contract which is a huge deal. Being able to keep Buddy while Beal’s unknown status after two years. It would be the Washington situation all over of being in limbo of whether or not you can keep Beal. Whoever trades for Beal will feel comfortable about retaining him, and be top FA market most likely.

That’s before getting into the structural injury issues he’s had

Agreed on all above sans the "structural" problems - he has aged his way into being able to play large minutes effectively.

The nature of an injury issue he’s had IMO is such that it could reoccur, even as he has been healthy and balling in the recent past. That’s not to say it’s a direct or large concern, but something non negligible for a GM whose job is on the line with those things. He does have good value though and is a baller

Eric Gordon’s extension is setting the stage

Next years free agency is broke, and it will be hard securing Hield and BOgi, and getting them to solid extensions now
