...the history books must show it was Dave Joerger as the foundation layer.

***This is the Dave Joerger appreciation thread***

Thank you Dave Joerger. When you arrived this organization was literally a dumpster fire. You helped turn this thing around and I will always be grateful of your work here.

Joerger definitely deserves credit for player development and the progress made from laughingstock to somewhat respectable.

Why are so many people just jumping on the Joerger deserves credit for player development? What exactly did DJ do for player development? If anything he should be scalded for the lack of it.
Let's take Fox for example because you see so many posters claim he has helped Fox develop as a player. Where exactly? Fox finished last season with people absolutely questioning his ability. Fast forward to the SL and he posts 23-8-6 in the opener and everyone knew he was a different player. Was that due to Joerger? Hell No. It's because the kid is going to be an absolute stud. He worked his tail off during the off season. Some of it was pure natural development of course, he's going to be a great player as said. The majority of it was his pure hustle and his work ethic which is already one of the best in the NBA.
Did DJ develop Fox's PG game? Where is the evidence to suggest he did, or that he has directly developed a players game?

Buddy worked his tail off in the off season too and came back a better player, was that Joerger? No.
You also don't sit your number 2 draft pick, which really just looked like it was in spite of an assistant GM. Was this what you mean by player development though? Sit the young guys and make sure they earn their playing time?
Just because these guys improved as players doesn't mean it was the head coach. Much of a players improvement comes in the off season where they have very little to no communication between each other. This Kings team was no different, the young guys all came back in terrific shape and much better except for the vets shock horror.

Yes Joerger had a hand in this teams development, I'm not saying he didn't have a hand in anything, however it is so grossly overstated.

Joerger was terrific for the stability of this franchise and was a good coach while he was here. He deserves a ton of credit for that. He did a much better job than what we could have wanted at the time he was hired.
He always put the right message across too which is an underrated aspect of his as to where we were as a franchise. It could have quite easily kept going sideways.
So I agree with City, DJ will go down as the foundation layer, IMO even if we don't win a championship, he gave us a small amount of credibility.
