Keeping Holmes is now going to be more difficult

That depends on how he's treated by the front office this off-season. He has already expressed how he feels about the team and city many times. It's up to the Kings to not mess things up.Lost in LA wrote:Keeping Holmes is now going to be more difficult

Re: The TRADE Thread 2021
Jerry West wanted Mfiondu Kabengele so he was drafted and get not used. He scored 38 points and had 14 rebounds in a G League game in 2020 and was never used on the Clips roster. Pathetic!codydaze wrote:So we're cutting Jabari Parker and Kabengele to make room for the deals. I would have rather moved or just cut Whiteside and let Kabengele get some burn...

I will say, if the Kings somehow find a way to make the playoffs, there is probably a better chance Holmes resigns for a reasonable rate.

Or does that raise his value?

I think it raises his value to both the Kings and the rest of the league. Richaun is such a big part of this team. If the Kings make the playoffs, it’s because Holmes played a huge part.

The recruitment would indicate Hield will be moved at year end to bring some cap relief.

Re: The TRADE Thread 2021
Is it possible that the Kings and Holmes already have a hand shake agreement on a 1 yr deal for the MLE and then they will give him a longer deal after next year or would this make them lose his bird rights or is this even allowed under the CBA? Or Holmes would never do this. Either way I have to think McNair has some sorta plan to get Holmes signed since they had ample opportunity to move him before the deadline.
What I don't understand is basically getting a young player for nothing and not even taking a look at him? If you look at the body of work for Kabengele both in college, the G League and the few games he played with the Clippers it warranted a cursory look! He is a young big who defends the rim, he is a nice pick n roll man who can roll or pop. He's athletic and can post up. He would've definitely been a guy worthy of development. Plus, you had a great opportunity to take a look at him in game situation the last two nights. Toronto and San Antonio does this sort of thing all the time, finding guys where you least expect it. Metu has already shown flashes. I think the smarter move would've been to move Whiteside for a 2nd or just waiving him and rolling with the young guys until Bagley returns. I don't know if its Walton or not but it seems the Kings think any veteran no matter how bad they are on the court will somehow magically make them a playoff contender when in reality that young guy on the bench in the long run will make them better. Look how long it took them to go away from Ariza last year. Sorry for rambling a little bit.

I’ve been excited to see him. Energy and grit have been needed and I could see him carving out some minutes here and there.

Do you think they will try to move Woodard & Ramsey for corresponding bigs?
Fox, Wright, Hield & Haliburton at guard.
And Barnes, James, Bagley and Silva at forward.
Not a big deal, just wondering where they fit.

and... Metu has already shown flashes.
Yeah, the C position for the Kings is interesting for next year. If Holmes and Metu come back they are fine. Starting over... ugh.
