Leave it to the Kings to blow a game where Luka doesn't play and Fox scores 43.

Mitchell has been a below league average backup. I'm losing hope that he could become a highend backup fast.

clutch tank. a win over Luka less mav wouldve been worthless anyways

The bigger concern is DDV and Davion yet to flesh out a clear 4th player to Fox/Barnes/Sabonis

We are going to need to move our pick for help now and hope for some FA luck

Interesting collapse there at the end.

Did anyone else cringe when DDV took that late 3 before it went up? 18 seconds on the clock.

And Davion could be traded for win now help this summer as well, maybe for an expiring Grant

I supported his drafting but thats looking like a whiff right now

DDV does some nice things out there, but his shot selection and decision making pretty much negates anything good he does.

Good game for the tank. Team was engaged, Fox ties his career high, Sabonis doing his thing, and they get the clutch 1 point loss.

*Chef's kiss*

The one saving thought for Mitchell is he was much better as a starter. maybe he needs that. Holiday has no business playing so I dont know why we aren't able to see that now

"Below league average" is an understatement. -22 Net rating, 45.6 TS%, -6 +/-. Not only that, but his age and physical attributes don't portend well for much future growth.

I guess the flip side here is that his advanced metrics aren't as uber-bad as things seem. He's the top rookie in on/off D-RAPTOR and 9th overall in RAPTOR for rooks.

Either way, I called this a **** pick when it happened and it still looks to be that way. Seems like we were in a similar position as in the 2016 draft where all the players high on our list went right before our pick. IMO the Kings almost certainly had Giddey, Wagner, and Kuminga far ahead of Mitchell and they're a completely different team with any of those 3 instead of Mitchell.

Davion isn’t an nba starter and doesn’t project to ever be one imo

I hated the pick when it happened. I grew to really like Davion (despite his struggles), but I still question the pick. I had Ziaire Williams, Sengun, and Moody ahead of Davion. Even with that, I had PG as the lowest of need, meaning that I would’ve put other ahead of him based on news (like Trey Murphy, Kai Jones, and Jalen Johnson). I think Davion will be a good NBA player, but I don’t think that will be on the Kings.

I've thought for awhile his absolute worst case scenario seems to be a Patrick Beverley type player.

I've now changed my thought to that being his best case scenario. If he can develop a consistent 3 while being a plus defender I will be extremely happy. Because right now he looks like he won't be getting a 2nd contract in the NBA.

Hes the most head scratching player in the bunch.

Alvin is terrible and takes out all the starters giving DDV too much offensive responsibility. I think he would make a better fit in the starting lineup playing off of Fox-Barnes-Sabonis.

Davion is an extremely hard worker and has shown signs this year. He’s gonna get better over the summer.

I'm losing faith but IMO no one picked after him looks definitively regrettable compared to what he can still be, as of this moment.

He played well as a starter

We will see

Mitchel's biggest hurdle (and one of the largest indictments on the pick itself) is just how bad he's been next to Fox. As a 2-man lineup he and Fox have a worse net rating together (-9.9) than Fox and any other remotely decent player on the team. Fox 2-man lineups for reference:

w/...
Sabonis: +0.4
Barnes: -4.5
Haliburton: -5.3
Holmes: -2.3
Hield: -6.9
Metu: -5.1
Davis: +5.5 (big wtf here)
Holiday: +3.0
DD: -2.0

If he sucks off the bench and sucks playing next to Fox then he's got no place on the team.

I'm really not surprised by the Davis stat. It was clear that he was one of our most impactful players this year. Check his on/off in general. He makes this team better. Gentry was just too stupid to realize it.

He needs a role next year IMO. The bench microwave scorer 6th man is his perfect role.

Id love to find a true impact player (preferably a forward) using Davion, Holmes, #6. Then even bringing back Delon Wright who I was a fan of in Sac.
