Draft Thread - Kings move up to #4

Post#1 » by LightTheBeam » Wed May 18, 2022 12:47 am

Well the day has come, the Kings moved to #4. Speculation we may trade the pick. Added a poll here. Assuming the top 3 stays as Chet, Jabari, Banchero.

I'm torn on this. Murray is 22 and seems like an immediate fit to help us improve day 1. Sharpe seems to have an insane amount of potential and a great athlete next to Fox. Ivey could prove to be better than both these guys, Monte has always gone BPA regardless of position, could he draft another PG/SG hybrid?

If we trade the pick, now that we moved up to 4 I think we need to look passed guys like Collins and Grant. Does this get Toronto thinking about a Siakam deal? Utah thinking about Donovan Mitchell?

Now that we know where the draft pick will be I'll start looking at the draft board. Today I'm leaning Sharpe.

Early thought under the gun Murray.

Completely open to others or trading. Just what I'd do right now.

More ammo to trade the pick

The team is still balls in on winning now with Sabonis on the clock so I’m not researching the draft kids

Instead of drafting a question mark kid, you really can fill out the roster, with 3-4 pieces by trading down/out

I would lean towards Sharpe with 1b being moving the pick along with Holmes for an upgrade (maybe a Siakam level talent).

I see the top three going:
Orlando - Jabari Smith
OKC - Chet Holmgren
Houston - Paolo Banchero

I really don't like the fit of Ivey here so if we stay at 4, I would definitely like Sharpe or Murray.

I don't think moving up in the draft changes much. The Kings are still in this "win-now" mentality. I bet they will trade the pick for an all star caliber player or close to it + pieces.

Sabonis will be a FA in 2 years, and the Kings may not be able to get a ton done in FA in the coming years. Will only have their draft picks

This is the chance to fill out the roster. If the team misses on a kid, instead of bringing in ~3 win now pieces or a big piece, that could set the team back awhile

I'm leaning Murray as well. I voted trade because I think we may be able to trade down. Wonder if he could possibly be there at 6. On the T&T board it was suggested #4 for Duarte or Brogdan + 6. I'm a huge fan of this if we know Murray would be there, seems likely with the fact Detroit would probably take Ivey/Sharpe to run with Cade and already have Bey/Grant at the forwards.

1. Chet/Parker
2. Chet/Parker
3. Banchero
4. Sharpe (Pacers pick)
5. Ivey
6. Murray

Fox/Mitchell
Duarte or Brogdan/DDV
Barnes/ Free Agent
Murray/MLE
Sabonis/Jones

I'd be pretty happy going into next year with this squad.

Is there an alternate universe where

1. Jabari - Orlando takes the best scorer
2. Banchero - OKC takes the interior threat
3. Ivey - Houston takes Ivey to put next to Green/Sengun
4. Chet - Falls to the Kings?

Higher risk higher reward?

Oh I hope we don't mess this up.

But I bet Monte feels like his time is short.

Duarte is cheap and under contract for 3 more seasons.

Yup. Could be a nice long term fit at the 2. Hes also older than most 2nd year guys, going to be 25 next year.

I think worst case scenario is Banchero falls to us at 4. No interest in another Duke big who can't shoot and doesn't play defense.

i want ivey. just think taking best player available is the only move at 4, and i have ivey as the 3rd best player in this draft.

Moving up makes it a lot easier to trade the pick.

Yeah and if Ivey is on the board at 4, some team will give up a lot more value than they would have if we stayed at 7/8.

I'm not as high on Ivey, especially his fit with our roster. High usage and not a natural playmaker seems like the wrong move for us and I don't believe in his jumper either. I would much rather take the upside of Shaedon. He's got a silky jumpshot and is an explosive athlete, I think he would fit in great with Fox and Sabonis.

Pistons fan here that has been living in the Bay for a while now. I would love to trade Jerami Grant to you guys for a package of Holmes and #4. I've seen proposals that included Davion as well but that seems a tad greedy lol. You guys would get your "Big 3" and we could draft Ivey and Sharpe or Keegan Murray.
