Last season Monk shot .391 from 3 on 5.8 attempts per game, and .401 the season prior. Monk wouldn't be the perfect signing out there but he can score on all three levels and spaces the floor. Not to mention the history with De'Aaron at Kentucky.

Thoughts on Monk's fit with the Kings?

I like him. I was shocked he took so little to play in LA. I figured he would make at least what Graham did.

DDV and him switching places makes a ton of sense.

Always been a fan of Monk. I would be all over it if he would take a longer term deal under MLE. 3/24, or maybe even 4/36 if he would sign that long. That way if it doesn't work out as a starter he can be coming off the bench and not be an anchor.

I like reuniting Fox and Monk. I think he gives us another creater and shot maker. I do not know fi we will be able to sign him. I will be happy with him or Victor O

He would certainly help with spacing the floor and would give us another creator but I really hope we go after some size on the wing. A Fox-Monk backcourt would be awful, defensively.

Yeah I'm not sure if we want to pay him for multiple years but the notion it hurts the Lakers makes it more appealing.

I think Monk and Fox having chemistry together also helps. He would probably average 20ppg if he started here. There was never any doubt about his scoring ability. How well they can defend could be an issue but we will struggle defensive regardless of who starts at SG

I always remember Monk cooking us everytime we played against him dating back to his Charlotte days. Took the time to look at the last 3 years we played Monk

The guy just plays his best basketball going against Fox. Maybe its that competitive spirit. I'd be excited to have him on board. He can get to the rim, shoot 3s, hes a capable secondary playmaker. His defense is lacking but couldn't ask for a better 6th man something we have been lacking. Assuming we don't do anything crazy, Id be fine with Fox/Davis starting and Mitchell/Monk as the bench. Those 2 sets compliment each other a lot.

Is this a done deal? I guess we will find out at 3.

He definitely shot better than DDV last year. I am not huge of DDV though so I would much rather have Monk. I was always sort of thought he never got the right opportunity

Monk was Fox's running mate at Kentucky. I would like to see that duo reunited. Even if I don't think Monk is a consistent starter, he would be a nice get after the DDV news.

I will say, if these other moves were made just to sign Monk, then I would be disappointed. I do like Monk but would rather have kept DDV. At this point, I'm taking the better defender over the better shooter.
DDV makes big plays on the defensive end, Monk makes big plays on the offensive end.

And it really did feel like Monk played his best ball against the Kings (he isn't the only one). Good to see the breakdown from Pizza on this. Maybe he is a guy that, give him some security, he would be in a situation with a good friend and that might bring out the best in him.

I will be happy if we sign Monk, but that can't be it. The off-season cannot just be Monk/Murray run it back. This team needs serious wing depth and size. And we need to find a trade for Richaun.

The Hali for Sabonis move was risky. I want more of that from Monte.

To play devil's advocate I will take the shooter. Kings hired a defensive minded champion level coach to come in and get the best out his players on the defensive end. Even with playoff caliber defense played in G1C the Kings need floor spacers with Fox and Sabonis to stand a chance.

Monk's shooting would have a greater impact on wins vs DDV's defense.

Exactly this.

There should be a sense of urgency by McNair's camp to add pieces to this team.

His job is on the line since it's his last year of his contract.

Murray, Monk & maybe a second rounder from SL won't cut it.
