Loving this deal. Very good trade for Monte depending on the pick situation.

Lottery protection I hope but I'm definitely down with this! More shooting is always welcome.

I'm sick to my stomach. We gave up a future 1st for Huerter? Honestly sick to my stomach.

2024 lotto protected
2025 top 12 protected
2026 top 10 protected.
That's pretty solid.

Kevin Huerter is as average as they come.
I would have rather got Luke Kennard. Both suck at defense, but at least Kennard is an elite 3pt shooter.
At least Vlade had the balls to take some risks even if it never worked out.

Well if you're right about Huerter then it only took 2 seconds to get him because that first only conveys basically if we're a playoff team for the next four years.

Exactly. I do not love Huerter, but he can shoot and he started 60 games on a players off team. Personally I think Trae Young is a hard point guard to play with (he's really a shooting guard) . hopefully we can get him in to some spots where he can knock some shots down, give us some spacing and allow Fox to do his thing

How can you hate this move either the pick conveys and we are a playoff team or it doesn’t and we keep it.

Huerter can shoot it off the catch AND off the dribble. He facilitates, he has range WAY beyond the three point line. He does defend, played well in a conference finals and he’s on a great contract. Nothing not to like here. Only question now is whether you can move Holmes for another starter at so you can bring Murray along slowly. Love this!

Yeah Im not sure either. We added a solid 3 point shooter to a team that struggled from deep last year.

Its more so that we just handcuffed ourselves for the next 5 years. We cannot trade a pick until 2028 now. And we did that for Kevin Huerter? I don't see him as a needle mover tbh. He's not a + defender, he's had a negative BPM his entire career and he's really not some incredible 3pt shooter he's made out to be (1% better than Justin Holiday for their careers).
I just don't see this as a player that is worth restricting your ability to improve using picks for the next 5-6 years.
I hope I'm wrong. But this off-season just went from being a B, to a D- IMO.

If we're still in the lottery and those pick don't convey they can still be traded on draft night. I'd still like to round out the offseason with another wing but currently we're looking at:
Fox-Huerter-Barnes-Murray-Sabonis
Davion-Monk-FA-Lyles-Holmes
Hopefully Mike Brown can get this squad playing at least average defense and the offense should be potent, it's definitely an improved team. If we can nab a guy like Caleb Martin or TJ Warren for that last bench spot, that would be solid. Also have the option of packaging Holmes/TD for a wing and letting Queta/Len get those backup minutes at the 5 if there's a taker for Holmes.

That is a good point, but again I just don't see the urgency here. Like for this price am I crazy in saying I preferred Josh Richardson? A guy who can shoot, is a ++ defender, and has the ability to swing between the 2 and 3 spots.
I can't see the lineup you put out being above average defensively. We haven't addressed our need for forwards. FA's aren't choosing Sacramento for what little money we do have left.

So Malcolm Brogdon was just traded for less than Huerter.
Malcolm had a down 3pt shooting season, but for his career his on par with Huerter. He also does pretty much everything else better than Huerter (except health).

I understand you're on the ledge right now but that's not true. Indy got a 1st, a prospect, and a vet for Brogdon. ATL got two expirings and a 1st
