Game 11 Thread - Kings (4-6) @ Lakers (2-9)
Lebron James is out tonight and Anthony Davis is questionable with a non-Covid illness. This is a game that we need to win if we're serious about competing, especially if Anthony Davis sits as well.
Things I'm looking for tonight:
1. Die by the three. The Lakers' struggles from deep are pretty well documented, they are not a team that is great at shooting the long ball. Russ unleashed with the absence of Lebron and possibly AD means he will likely be looking to attack, attack, attack so we need to put an emphasis on locking down the paint and forcing them to beat us from the outside.
2. Let the Black Falcon soar. The Cavs game was a breath of fresh air from the play we've otherwise been getting from Harrison Barnes this year. When HB can get going, it opens up the game for everyone else and allows Fox to not have to carry the team on his back. Hopefully tonight we get more of the HB we've been used to seeing and not the HB that's been struggling this year.
3. The start of a streak. We need to be able to string together some wins, in the short season we've only won a pair of games back to back. If the playoff hopes are real, it's important to not have extended losing streaks but it's doubly important we're able to put together some extended winning streaks.

Games like this, where fans and even the coaches expect you to win, can be tough to pull out. In addition to codydaze's points, consistent effort will be imperative.

I'm so so despondent. tv off... the character of this team
still cant play defense
fox fox/huerter to play like this in the first half...
you better hope something is going on with Murray or else we're in trouble
just nasty

A win is a win, especially when it's against the Lakers. If Fox can keep this play up he should be getting serious all star buzz come January.

Fox is that man!
Its a shame we can't get murray/barnes to play good at the same time. If those 2 start to roll at the same time it's going to make us dangerous.
Loving monk off the bench. Davis was huge in the 4th tonight. Metu played really good with lyles shot not falling, that was huge. Sabonis kept us afloat that first half.
The past kings would have coughed this up. But tonight they really didn't play great basketball and managed to pull out a win. Impressive

?
I feel a lot better knowing this. The man's talent wouldn't just dissipate after a great SL/preseason/start to the season, so I always suspected it

Its also pretty insane last year/this year with Fox.
I mean, I know some players need to be coached hard, and can't have players coaches to get that talent out of them. Hali was also an ill fit. But this time last year I really was at my wits end, and now he's playing like the team's franchise player. What a difference in a year

And Metu sucks, we really going to play him another year?
Either go with 9 men with Lyles as the only big or play Len if Holmes cant produce

What's your issue with Metu?BoogieTime wrote:And Metu sucks, we really going to play him another year?

I actually think he's been really solid in the backup role. Certainly giving us more than Holmes did. His defense considering his size/athleticism leaves some to be desired. But he's not killing us in the way Holmes was. And he's helping spread the floor for the guards.
I've got no problem giving him 10-15mpg. He's been a lob threat, and he can hit 3s (although rough start in the department he can't be left wide open).
Until we get another reliable bench forward, he should have a role imo.
