Game 33 Thread - Kings (17-15) vs Nuggets (22-11)

Post#1 » by codydaze » Wed Dec 28, 2022 11:18 pm

Part two tonight of the back-to-back set.

Things I'm looking for tonight:
1. Stop the three-headed monster. Jamal Murray is questionable today with injury management but if he's a go we need to lock in, defensively, against the trio of Murray/MPJ/Jokic. The Joker is going to be a difficult matchup every day of the week so we should be lasering our focus in on Murray and MPJ. Forwards have seemed to light us up this year so I'd like to see some physical defense on MPJ and not allow another 30-piece tonight.

2. Attack of the bench mob. Malik Monk's struggles have continued, going 0-5 from deep last night, but to stand a chance against a team of Denver's caliber we need big contributions from the bench. Trey Lyles played some pretty good minutes as well as Davion last night but with the absence of Sabonis, the bench needs to step up and make up some of that production. I would like to see 40+ points from the bench tonight and for them to crank up the intensity on the floor.

3. Technically, no. I understand the frustration with the officials, trust me. We have not seemed to get very many favorable whistles all year long, particularly Fox, but we cannot let that affect the way we play. The tech on Fox last night after the lane violation was a big time momentum swing that we cannot afford against the top team in the West. We need to do our best to keep the emotions reigned in, no matter how justified they may be, and continue to play our game. Techs can energize a team in some situations but it's best we avoid them completely tonight.

One day I want to see the kings get away with the push offs other teams offensive players get away with.

Rough start tonight

Seems we are finding our our true level. I enjoyed the sort run of success, though

I'm so tired of the refs. We are 7 minutes in and at least 4 bad calls against the kings.

Kings cut it to 10 and begin looking for home run swings. They need good possessions first and foremost

Nothing yet.

I doubt two 2nds gets it done. I think it was Shams who reported PHX asked for Deni Avdija in exchange for Crowder lol

I thought Denver wasn't a great shooting team. This team just can't miss in general. Our defense sucks but doesn't help that Denver is on fire the last 4.5 quarters

Surprised TD can't get on the floor. He's a good defender and can get hot quick

Are the Kings tempted to move Keegan for win now help?

Just very far from the ROY candidate we hoped for after that preseason/summer league and dimensional..

Sabonis is on the clock, need to be better next year for sure. don't know Keegan's time line

He definitely shouldn't be off the table. Problem is if you are moving him you need a real stud at the 3/4. Hard to see one of those guys become available.

If you can get OG for Murray/Holmes I'd do it.

I wouldn't look to trade Keegan but I'd include him in a deal for a star.

It's so damn hard to guard jokic/embid. They are huge and when they get calls like that, it becomes impossible
