Game 35 Thread - Kings (19-15) @ Grizzlies (22-13)

Post#1 » by codydaze » Mon Jan 2, 2023 1:11 am

Kings open up 2023 looking to stay atop the Pacific division in the first game of a road trip in Memphis.

Things I'm looking for tonight:
1. New Year fireworks. We ended the year with some good momentum beating a very good Denver team and Utah who has been the surprise of the season. Memphis comes in tonight on the second half of a back-to-back so we should look to capitalize against their tired legs and get out into the open floor. Are we going to have a NYE hangover or start the year with a bang?

2. Business trip. Kings are .500 on the road so far at 8-8 which is a benchmark we should be aiming for all year. If we can at least break even with our road games we will put ourselves in a nice position to make the playoffs outright. This will be a short, two game trip so I want to see us take care of business and get both of these wins.

3. Defend without fouling. We know Ja is going to be aggressive attacking the rim and we know he has the ability to draw a lot of whistles so we need to stay out of foul trouble and keep them off the free throw line. Desmond Bane is out tonight so while they have capable three point shooters on the floor, they're missing their sniper. Let them beat us from deep rather than the charity stripe.

8 free throw attempts for Ja so far in the first quarter. Just foul baiting every single drive.

Fox is doing this Sabonis out, no impact thing again. Sabonis can't sit now. 1-7 with low motor turnovers and low motor defense, and disgusting to watch.

Brown should just bench him when he senses he's in this state.

I don't usually like to blame refs but they have been absolutely awful tonight.

Brown should just bench him when he senses his low motor funk

and he has picked up the play late in the 2nd. and he is one of the most clutch players in the nba as well, and helped us with the last couple. His stats have been better over the last stretch. I'm just saying, his lows are a little too low, Brown/him need to iron out this consistency. Its notable because he's supposed to be the 2nd best player

Yeah it's been pretty bad all night and honestly both ways.

Right when I show up a bs no and1 for Monk, then an immediate Memphis run.

the offensive rebounding was terrible. still trying to figure out how Adams had such a way with Domas. I guess the hand really affects that aspect
